Post Customer Service from Prospeed and installation of Porsche Big Red kit. (long)

Well I got the Prospeed Porsche "big red" kit installed. Wanted to let you know my experience.

I've been way on the top of the list to get a kit since they were announced, but as with most new things there were delays in parts deliveries, revisions, etc. I talked to Michael fairly regularly to get the scoop and he was very forthcoming in whatever problems were occurring. I talked to him on Monday, Aug 26th to see the status of the kit as I had an event on Labor Day at Gingerman and had to know FOR SURE whether I would get the parts in time. I had already received the calipers and rotors (very nice BTW). He told me he had the brackets, hub adaptors, spacers, etc. but was waiting for some bolts. He was expecting them and said that I would have the stuff in time, he could always overnight the bolts if necessary. OK. In the meantime I would start disassembling my front. I used some cut up LT1 spindles for my LS1 so I'd have the originals to sell or go back to stock. So on Thursday Aug 29, I got an e-mail that the kit had shipped overnight. Came early friday afternoon. BTW, Prospeed is located in St. Paul, Minnesota and I'm around Milwaukee, WI. OK, everything there and ready to go.

Started to assemble one side and was going pretty good. Shimmed the caliper to center it and everything looks good. I them checked my e-mail and got a message from Michael that the hub adaptor ring for the rotor has an ID that is too large, allowing the rotor to wobble around the hub. He had just found out from the machine shop. Talked to him on the phone and he had a correct set there for me. This was Friday at about 6:30 pm. I guess he could overnight them to me but I wouldnt get them until fairly late on Saturday. Then I would have to get it all assembled and get an alignment (new spindles). I was leaving Sunday at 10am for Gingerman (in Michigan). What to do....

Well, Michael offers to drive them down to me. I say I can meet him. He says no, he will deliver them to my house. That is a 320 mile drive, 5 hours, one way. He got to my house about 12:30am. Even offered to help me work on the car but I said I was calling it a night, and he was welcome to stay over night, but he said he felt pretty good and was going to just head home. He left about 1:30am.

Incredible. Everyone I tell this story to can't believe it. That's going the extra mile. A reasonable solution would have been an apology and overnighting the parts to me. To take that much time and effort to see that I got the parts I needed in time was really above and beyond.

I'll give a mini-review of the system in a separate post.

Question

Jammin humor me if you will.
I am a little confused about "spindles"In older/other car brake/rotor hub assembly bearings are on the "spindle"between it and brake rotor.A small axle if you will.
But our cars the hub/bearings are sealed one unit.I dont have spindles as I know them to be.There hiding inside that one piece unit and prob. very short/small.
Can I assume that this kit you have eliminates that one piece bearing/hub assembly(stock),for a more conventional longer acctual spindle w/ adjustable bearings, grease caps etc.attaching the rotor to your car?

No. The spindle I'm referring to is the cast iron piece the the hub bolts to. It is held in place by the upper and lower ball joints and tie rods. On LT1 cars it also has big "ears" that hold the brake pads and calipers.

IC,saw it in replacing hubs/bearing in my manual. The absence of the tappered axle on our cars, caused me to think we dont have a spindle. All this time I thought that tapered axle protruding out was the spindle.
