Coilovers

Can someone explain how these are better than regular shocks/struts? And can I get them for my '92? If so where?

Structurally and shock/strut wise to my knowledge, they would not create a significant difference. Maybe a little bit less unsprung weight??

Coil-Overs are great because you can adjust your springs (effectively your spring rate) using cheap generic springs, and be able to change the springs on all 4 corners in less then 15 minutes.

You can also change your ride height very easily from stock to 2 inch drop, accordingly to your driving tastes, car mods and look.

This means at the AutoX/Road Race you can equip your 500# springs and drop your car as much to your driving style..
At the Strip you can equip lower spring rate springs to assist in weight transfer and keep your car stock.
And for daily driving you can have stock spring rate springs and stock height.

For an extra 200-300 bucks, the amount of control is worth it to certain individuals. I plan on getting some Ground Control Coil-Overs with either Koni SA's or Strano Revalved Bilsteins as my next regular/suspension mod or better tires.

I think that 15 minutes might be just a little optimistic...

I don't think you'll be swapping springs too often, it's a PITA on the front because you have to remove the strut to do it. The back is easy, they practically fall right out.

Adjustability is the main advantage. Not only can you raise or lower the car, but you can balance the car left to right and front to rear. I'm getting ready to stick mine on 4 scales and get the left/right balance correct or at least closer.

They will work with stock shocks but if you go coil overs (I have) then most likely you'll be using a different rate spring (probably stiffer) and the stock shocks won't cut it. I agree, the Koni SA's are probably your best bet. I used (Sam Strano's favorite setup) Koni SA's (single adjustable) in the front with 500# springs and Ground Control coil overs.
