Bilstein Installation

Wanted to know if it is ok to spin the shock's shaft while holding the nut in place with a wrench to tighting it up? Or is it best to hold the shaft in place and spin the nut tight, which is a pain in the neck since there is no space to get a wrench on it and turn?

Re: Bilstein Installation

just thought about something. if your referring to the rear shocks. youll need someone to hold the shock in place under neath while you turn the nut up top.

Re: Bilstein Installation

I would use an air socket wrench with an allen socket to spin the shaft while holding the nut in place with a open end wrench. Basically I want to know if spinning the shaft will hurt the shock?

Re: Bilstein Installation

no either or, but be forewarned that you will not reach the torque rating with the allen so dont try it

Re: Bilstein Installation

Bilstein specifically says not to spin the shaft because you can damage the shock.

Re: Bilstein Installation

Yeah it's funny, but they were really an option.

Well I ended up spinning the shaft, so hopefully they will be ok. Has anyone else done the same with out problems.
Thanks
