anyone with c5 wheels, 17 in front and 18 in back?

Hey everyone,

I have 17", 245mm tires on the front of my car, and 18" 275mm tires on the back wheels.

Since I've installed these new wheels/tires, my car gets wheelhop, very badly, when my tires lose traction. It shakes the entire car and it feels like the car is going to fall apart.

Is this a common symptom? How did you guys fix it? I've heard that LCAs and panhard rod will get rid of this problem...

why exactly does wheelhop occur - is it because the tire diameter difference up front/back?

when do you have wheel hop?

during acceleration or during braking or normal driving

wheel hope is generally cured by lca's and relocation brackets, an after market torque arm may help too, or get a poly ta mount to help and keep cost down.

different tire size front/back shouldn't cause wheel hop

Kyung, low profile sidewall could be some of it in the straight line, BUT pull a wheel and look for rub marks. I found them even with just 255s on the back, mostly when cornering. The rub would be so bad, that the car would scoot sideways as if I hit a curb, in a hard corner.

LS1 cars can do it under braking, but thats because of too much rearward brake bias stock...

thanks for the replies. I usually get wheel hop anytime the wheels lose traction - when I accelerate really fast, or when I just do a standstill burnout. It peels out pretty smoothly on wet roads, though...

I'll look into the panhard rod, LCAs, just making sure it'll cure hweelhop before i plunk down cash.
