Z06 style Z28 emblem (pics inside)

Ok well i set out a while ago to make these but i guess someone already beat me to it. I planned on doing LS1 in the z06 style but changed my mind at the last minute. As of right now this is still in development stages. The peice is completely aluminum. I personally do not like the milled line finish, apparently the person who made it cannot get rid of them but he said that polishing or chroming should be able to. I have to have the 8 fixed and eventually once the peice is complete i will either have it chromed or powder coated. I think an entire chrome peice would look really nice where the 3D Z and 28 are chrome and the back area is powder coated a bit darker to make it stand out. I will obviously add the red insert, whether it be vinyl or paint (probably paint) Just want some opinions on this. Thanks.

- I really like the lined background

- I really like the 3D effect, looks awesome

The Z and the 2 look perfect....but why does the "8" seem a little bit off center ?

Hot Damn!
Looks Good!

Did you make it yourself or get somebody to do it?

If you made it yourself could you tell us how you came up with it?

Thanks for the feedback on the emblem, it was made by an outside source. The "8" problem is being worked on hehe. I may offer different versions like the person did above, in comparing mine to their's i believe mine is a bit longer and thinner. I am happy with the first initial peice, after i get a final peice LS1 should be coming soon. More info and pics to follow.

They look nice but on second thought I'm thinking you'd really like to have a Z06 instead, who wouldn't? This is borderline poser work if you ask me.

Hey qwik3r, I have to ask you to please not post info about you offering these for others. There will be no problem with you posting pics with something like "Look what I did..." but please don't post or infer that you can have these made for others. I'm being particulary "strict" with this item because, not sure if you are aware of it or not, but we have a supporting advertiser paying decent money to be able to specifically sell and talk about these type badges. If I were paying money to support the site and be able to sell and talk about these here I'd probably be a bit miffed if somebody came in who wasn't paying for this and started selling an extremely similar item. I hope you understand and if not, please shoot me an email. But, any further talk about making more of these and I'll have to either close and/or delete the topics. I hate doing this but we have to protect the paying advertisers here... after all, they are what keep the site going for us all to enjoy. Thanks for understanding.

I didn't know you could make badges with tin snips!!

(j/k)

I like these (mastach.com) more, and these (HUGGER_ORANGE) even more...

Congrats on getting 'em made. I think toiling to have some custome stuff (i.e your badges) made is always worth it. I'm going to buy a couple of bumpers and a plastic welder and make one of these (should be easy...LOL).

I appreciate your concern in this matter but frankly the idea and design was conveyed on numerous boards (but not this one) way before anything was mentioned (and yes i did check this one) regarding making them. I am not "claming" rights, but i am saying this isn't something i thought of after someone had put them up for sale.

Secondly i am not talking about selling them, nor have i said how much anything would be. I am simply asking for opinions/suggestions on any alterations that need to be done. When the time is right i may become a sponsor to sell them if i so desire that i in fact want to sell them. At this time, like you said, i just intend on posting pics of updated versions.

I have been in an issue like this before when i wanted to make chrome ram air inserts on another board and i was shut down, and it is very annoying. You however are atleast handeling it a bit better. It becomes quite annoying to be shut down when you are simply trying to give the people what they ask for. I have been designing and fabricating custom peices for all sorts of cars for years and when someone over at another forum asked "wouldn't it b great to have a LS1 or z28 style z06 emblem" i got right on it. And that was almost a year ago.

Thirdly, to the person who made the comment about this being poser, i have a z06 my friend and i could careless about it, i am not interested in making these for the sake of jealousy for the z06, and i don't even have a z28 i have a transam. I like making products that other people cannot make or never care to come up with like big companies (sponsors) I simply made it because people ASKED for it. Right now the peice is for "fun" and i am only asking for thoughts on it. So kindly do not shut this thread down, even if someone asks "how much are you going to be selling these for". I will set them straight about it. Thanks you.

Hey no offense taken, i didn't personally make them, i had a friend make them up, just based on my cad models. And it wasn't done on an expensive laser machine ya know, it was just something to "test" out to see if we could get the overal design down, thats why its not super quality, just wanted to get some feedback from the people, i waited so long that someone beat me to it! LOL. Anyway - those are nice z06 style badges that you showed me.

Someone always thinks that anything beyond chrome plated stock parts is "rice." Blah, blah, blah. "Do what 'cha like"

Seriously, I wasn't trying to dog on your emblems. Just like flippin' sh*t now and then

Looks good. I agree with your ideas of powder coating the low area's, polishing or choming the high areas round the Z and the tops of the 28. And fill in the Z. They should look excellent like that.

Hey qwik3r, I don't disagree with you at all about this not being an ideal situation so to speak. Being on a completely free (and I mean 100% free) forum or media like a mailing list where anybody can talk about anything is definitely best for the members. However, here at a board like this which takes serious $$$ to keep up and running, there is a balance in that the best interests of the members are factored in with the best interests of keeping the board available for all. A good example of this is group purchases. Sometimes members who read only at this board don't always get the best deals because participation or talk of group purchases is not allowed here UNLESS the group purchase is being run by a supporting vendor. This is most definitely not in the best interest of us the members. However, it is in the best interest of the board (and ultimately the members) because if the vendors who pay to keep this site up and running get ticked off because we are all buying our stuff from massive group purchases from just anybody, there is a chance they will no longer support the site. Without their $$$ coming in, this site, I do believe, would struggle to stay on line and in that case we would all lose.

It does kinda suck that board members can't post and promote about products the have come up with on their own... there are several very cool things that members here have come up with which can't be actively promoted (even if it is not a "business", no money is being made, or it would save everyone 90% off what it costs elsewhere) because only paying advertisers can post about their products. If for example Joe Blow starts making some LCAs and pan hard bars of very high quality in his back yard for FUN and wants to sell them to the members here at basically his cost, he can't. If you think about it, it makes sense even though in most cases it sucks for the members because they don't have a chance to buy this cool and cheap product. It makes sense because this site requires paying advertisers to stay running and the advertisers sell these same/similar products. It simply is not fair that Joe Blow can sell his for free when their are people paying for the privelage to be able to do this. If any Joe Blow could do this for free then there would be no reason to pay camaroz28.com for the ability to do this. So, sure, there are cases where the board just can't take the best interest of the members into account and must instead do what is necessary to keep the board up and running and that's setting the rules such that if you want to create posts about products you are selling, you have to be a paying advertiser. I say "create posts" because there are a handful of guys in the LT1 Tech forums that have their own little sides businesses. They are contributing members to the board who are here primarily to learn and to help others. If somebody asks a question like "Hey, do you know where I can get xxx" one of them might respond back with "Yeah, I can do that for you, shoot me an email for details" or something along that order. So long as this isn't abused, it is something that is typically allowed. Same goes for you IMO... if somebody later down the road makes a post "Hey... anybody know where I can get those cool Z06 looking badges" and you come into the topic and say "I can hook you up!" then that's cool in my book.

And the threads for "gauging interest" or "thinking about making" are a hard call as well. This one isn't bad but we've had cases where somebody will post something like "I'm not selling these but am gauging interest in blah, blah, blah". You then get 20+ people reply back with stuff like, "count me in!", "save one for me!", "I'll take two if you do this!" and so on. Sure, they claim to not be selling them but now they have in reality just sold 50. For this reason, I posted early in your topic because I've seen how these things can happen. And, for this item especially, there is a paying advertiser who is paying almost solely for the privelage of selling these on this site so I hope you can understand the position I'm put in You aren't really selling these yet, but in a way you are building a customer base by posting about them here... so, while you aren't directly competing with our supporting guy, you kinda are whether intentional or not

These types of things are difficult for moderators because while they want to do what is best for the members, sometimes their "job" involves doing things they don't want to do like shutting down cool ideas/products because it is something that must be done to keep the advertisers happy and the board up and running. You know, it would have been way easier for me to just delete your topic and send you an email with a few sentences. However, I'm taking my time trying to explain why we sometimes have to do things that aren't always viewed as "popular". When things are boderline I will typically give the benefit of the doubt to the member as I have done in this case (by not deleting your topic). All I ask is that you see this from my point of view when talking about this further. Also, reverse the roles and think if you were the one paying for the advertising here and some Joe Blow came in with the same item and started talking about it for free... if what you are about to post would tick you off if the roles were reversed, then please don't post it

The easy fix for all this is for somebody to step forward and fund the board out of their own pocket! When that happens, anyone can talk all they want about the cool stuff they are making and there will be no worries about losing the advertisers that keep the site running. But, until that day comes, we have to keep it so the advertisers will continue to want to support the site

Thanks!

For what it's worth, maybe you can become a paid advertiser after they are mass produced . . ?

Whoever posted that, thanks for the link. They have them ready to go right there, $70 for a set of 3, and they have 4 different styles.
