Wings west wtype too low?!!
Wings west wtype too low?!!
well I just got my z painted a nice gun metal grey color and I had a wings west wtype kit put on and man is it low!! I love the kit but it is low! the wings west air dam scrapes on everything. I'm wodering if anyone else has the same issue or can I put the old airdam back on? Its not the body kit scraping really its just the air dam under the car. My suspension is stock, original 96 I wanted to put a eibach prokit and new shocks on but I cant even think of lowering now! if anyone has any advice or had this same issue. I eventually will get bigger wheels but I have to wait until I get the cash together before I can do that.
THanks for your thoughts and opinions

Welcome to the club. I had the same issues when I had my kit put on, except I already had Eibach Sportline Springs in. Long story short I removed the front piece of the W-Type kit. It has been off for a awhile now, I have just been to lazy to go get the front piece of the F-1 Kit. It's the same front piece you see on the RS model Camaro's. I think it will look good and I can use the stock Air Dam piece underneath because of the slots the F-1 kit has across the front. Another thing going to bigger wheels won't raise your ride height. On stock wheels you have 16" rims on 245/50/16's.....If you thought going to 17;s or even 18's would raise the car abit it won't becauce the larger rim will have a smaller side wall tire. So it will end up being the same height if that makes sense to you. I recommend checking out the F-1 front piece or RK Sport has a front piece you could get (CA-100 kit)I believe.Good Luck

i've got the Wings West W-type gfx and 2 inch Eibach "sportline" springs on my 95 Z, i never even bothered putting the ww air deflector on it (haven't had any overheating problems yet, not even close)
yeah, it's low but i wouldn't have it any other way!!

yeah i'm having the same problem, except i pulled mine off and put my stock air dam back on and it ran about 30-40 degrees warmer so i put the ww one back on because everyone knows how much different an lt1 runs when it's hot compared to when its cold..
Mine scrapes on everything as well... at least 99% of the time it is just the air damn scraping and not the actual front ground effect!
I've learned to live with it and avoid all speed bumps and 95% of the fast food joints. You also have to leave about a block following distance between you and the car in front of you because when the car in front straddles the turtle crossing the road you need to give yourself room/time to go around the turtle instead... if not you'll scoop him up into your radiator
Of course, my car is lowered about 2" with this kit so that makes it even worse for me.

daily driver all summer long.......with the stock deflector !
i don't know if it has something to do with having a 160 deg. Hypertech thermostat?
i have drove it for about 2 hrs straight with no overheating issues whatsoever....... "not even close to half way" maybe close to a third of the gauge.
nice. do you think its because you have it lowered? i have the 160 stat too and i might just have to change it back because i feel stupid when i bottom out everywhere and it makes that big loud noise and everybody is looking at you. ill test it out here in louisiana where its actually hot and see how bad it gets. if it goes almost to 3/4 then ill put the old one back on but that sounds like a plan.
if you take stuff slow enough and hit somewhat steep stuff at an angle, youll be allright. and if it scrapes its gunna be the air damn. the first day i heard any little scraping i would lfip out and pull over and look
youll be ok, im thinking of lowering my car like 1 1/2 inches, How much of a difference will it make being lowered chucky and brent?

Now I am afraid to put my ground effects on. I was thinking about trying to find something protective to put on the bottom of my front ground effects. Like that spray on bedliner stuff or something, just so it doesn't put big scratches in the front piece.
