Will fuel eat rubber hose lines???
Will fuel eat rubber hose lines???
Hey all,
Just a few quick questions. Will fuel eat the rubber hose away inside stainless steel fuel lines? Do I have to use teflon lined hose? That is what a vendor told me that I had to use if I wanted to use stainless braided hoses for the fuel supply and fuel return. I figured the teflon lined hose would be for nitrous, alcohol, or special situations. I didn't think regular 90-93 octane would eat rubber hose.
If anyone has some experience with this, I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

Whatever you do....do NOT use Teflon lined hose for fuel....go check out Aeroquip AQP braided lines or their socketless hose, there are 2 different types of hose....one is compatible with fuel the other is NOT. Make sure the hose you buy specifically says it works with fuels!

I talked to www.performanceplumbing.com And you are supposed to use Teflon line hose for fuel injected cars. I didn't listen the first time, and bought regular stainless hose. I paid for that mistake. I ended up having to call them back, and order the teflon line.
A fuel injected car will eat right through rubber hose and ruin your injectors.
I can send you a piece of this stainless line for proof if you want. All of Summit's fuel line is mainly for carb. cars. You can run reg. hose w/ those.
You can even go to Advance Auto, and ask for fuel line, and they will ask you if it is fuel injected or carb. Thave have TWO different kinds. And the fuel injection line states it on the line itself, and has a lining inside for the fuel-teflon. It is also about $3-4 a foot. The stainless teflon lined that I bought from the website above was about $9 a foot.
Not trying to cause an arguement. Just check out the website, call the number and ask questions if you have doubts.
Thanks for your opinion!!
