Well, I did get a response from Mecham, Dennis Mecham actually. Sorry I can't include the picture he sent of the hood they make for the early F-body's. If someone has a site they can host it on I can email it to you.

Bottom line, Mecham doesn't make the hood in question. Here's what he had to say:

"It would certainly appear that our 4-port design has been copied, even if very badly. You will note the squared ports and ramps, etc. that reveal a design that appears to be an early ram air hood modified. We don't offer a 4-port for the earlier Gen4 cars at this time. We do offer a 6-port. I have sent along a photo for your perusal. Let us know if we can help."

Do I detect an implication that Mecham's quality isn't too good? I've never seen any of their stuff in person, so I don't know first hand.

Wow.. That hood is "BAD A$$".. Mecham is nice, but why 4 ports? 2 BIG A$$ ports will do just fine, and I do wish that guy would make one for 93-97 (especially for a 94) Maros..

EDIT:
Oops.. The home made one has 4 ports.. but still looks real nice!!

From what I've seen from this forum alone, Mecham "quality" is absolute trash.

Yea, there have been incidents where hoods have split at the seams and other hoods warped badly. exhaust tips chrome coming off in a matter of weeks etc. etc.

But I'm still getting the Z29R spoiler from them

I still like this one waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the Mecham one.

I can't believe he would say something like this when his products are ****. I will never buy anything from him or Suncoast Creations again. I know a guy that can do 10 times better work then those two companies with scraps for parts. Hell I'm sure I could if I had the time.

I just received that picture in an email from Mecham the other day, so I assume it's still available.

That's what I figured the general consensus would be. Too bad, I kind of like the hood. But I don't need to dump money on a product of questionable quality. Oh well, back to the drawing borad...as they say...

I wonder if VFN could do something...

Mecham quoted me $960 for this hood. Thats a little steap although you would have a unique hood.
