Who has removed the side molding?

Who has removed the side molding on the doors? Mine is looking faded and actually looks pink in some light. Pics anyone? I have also had a suggestion to paint it black. I have a red car with blackouts. Wonder if this would look good or not...

I did!

I have a black Z28 that I took mine off of. No problems, even with 9 year old paint!

You can see pics of my car on my website. The link is in the sig!

I did it and I have to say it ranks just under removing the front license plate monstrosity.

Unfortunatly all my pics atm still have the side moldings on the car.

I say go for it, makes the sides look very smooth.

Good luck

yeah...I did...pics in the sig. You just gotta be carful when you open up your doors....but that's about it. And for the most part...our cars sit so low, that anyone else that might ding our cars with their doors....the molding isn't going to help any...it'll be too low usually. Rip that stuff off...you'll be glad you did.

Just curious to all those who have taken theirs off, what is the best stuff to use to rip it off. Any adhesive removers better than others to do the job? My is looking bad too on the red car and was seriously considering ripping it off. Just wanted to know the best way to go at it.

I took mine off. It was easy and deffinitly worth it although the small piece in b/w the door and the fender removed the paint and left a black line where it used to be But the way I did it was borrowed my neigbor's heat gun (a hair dryer will work) and heated the pieces up and used some fishing line to work through and cut through the adhesive. Then I took some GooGone and let it sit for awhile and then used a rag on it.
