I saw this done to this LS1. It looks really sweet IMO. Anyone try this in a different color (if so please post pics)? Also, anyone know if you can do this in an LT1. I'm not sure if the dash's are similar enough to do it or not.

I've always wondered, do the stock bulbs not come in different colors? Our cars don't use LEDs do they? I know the odometer light on my LT1 is definitely not an LED, but I don't know about the speedometer/tachometer light(s).

LEDs always look too bright to me, and they don't look professional usually. Usually half of the guage is too bright and half of it is barely lit up.

You can get colored bulbs for things like the gauge cluster but they won't look good for very long. Usually on colored standard bulbs they just use a tint on the bulb. As the bulb gets hot the tint cracks and lets ugly yellow light through. Thats why you need LED's. I had a spare Red tinted regular bulb and i installed it into my ash tray and after a few weeks the tint was cracked and it was red and yellow light. Now the light is just pure yellow again. LED's will look good if done right.

I've seen someone do their LT1 Camaro dash in red. I'll try to find the pic again to post up. It looked pretty consistant bright wise as the green ones in the pics above I posted do.

I know you can't (easily at least) dim or brighten the LED's once you install them, I'm not sure on the different brightness between the same exact kind of bulbs.

I had red LED's in my old TA dash. The stock bulbs give the TA dash an orangish red light and with red LEDs it was a blood red color. I bought all my lights at superbrightLEDs.com. I just got the single bulb 194 wide angle LED and they worked great in the cluster with no "hot" spots. For the door panels and A/C controls i used their #74 LED's. To do the headlight switch i soldered in one of their #74's.

Good to know, thanks for that info. By the time I am wanting to change the color of mine, hopefully there will be a sky blue colored LED light available. I believe the new Mustangs can display that color, but they use fiberoptics or something don't they?

You could try hyperwhites. They have a light blue tint to them.

Any pics available of the hyperwhites? This is pretty much the color I would be looking to do as well.

Nah, I'm not interested in a faint blue tint. I want it this color.

I like that blue Call911, it's a nice color if that's how it actually looks. Most blue LEDs I see are bit more indigo colored.

Yeah, it seems to look good to me as well. Not too blue, like most riced out Honda's, but just a light blue to change things up a bit inside. I think this will be the color I go with if I decide to make this move. Anyone know if I can get replacement blue LEDs to go in my Autometer gages as well? If not, I wouldn't even bother with this as it all won't match. If so, then I am going to consider doing this.
