I am in central massachusetts and need a paint job on my car. The last one is screwed. I bought the car damaged and had a guy do a quick spray can job to hold me over until spring (winters up here are brutal on cars). Anyway, there are a few options open to me. I can get some maaco job or get a friend's dad to do it or do it myself. I have experience with painting, but this will be a huge task and I am intimidated? So what do you think. Should I get a Maaco job? I am trying to keep it cheap since it is an 89 and not worth a $2K paint job. Thanks.

 

If you plan on selling the car then get a "cheaper" job like Maaco. Actually the cheaper jobs can come out good, if you do all the prep work. Anyways my car is not worth a 3k paint job but as soon as I get the money I will get one because I plan on keeping the car and the paint job will be for me.

 

I plan on keeping the car as long as prices for gas don't go up. I am going to college in a year, then I plan on getting a black trans am and making it into K.I.T.T. while I am there. I figuere by the end of 4 years I should have enough time to really make it look great. But back to my car, its only a V6, its a nice car but nothing great and I don't want to invest alot of money into it I suppose. What kind of prepwork should I do instead of having them do it?
