Where to find information on House of Kolor paints?
I went to the house of kolor website and it doesn't seem to load properly. I've been to other paint sites (dupont & ppg) and they don't offer the type of educational information that I'm looking for. Basically I want to learn about the HOK paint systems and how they work. My IROC is red with orange mica in it and it just didn't give the effect I want. Next time I paint it I want to use a red pearl coat, but none of the slack-jaw auto stores around here are any help. They're the ones that suggest the mica. So anyway... if anybody knows of a good website that shows the HOK paint systems, their effects, and the colors, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

What exactly is it that you want to do?
A red pearl base? Or a Tri-coat with a red pearl as the mid coat over a contrasting base?
I can get you one of their complete paint books with samples of everything they make from my work, I think it's like 35$

thanks for the info guys.
Whistler, I'm more or less just trying to learn all about the different color choices they offer. The last time I painted the car, I wanted a unique color. I put a pile of orange mica into my paint, but the effect still came out too subtle to matter.

I did some digging around those sites and I still don't feel like I know very much.
I'm more or less trying to see what colors they have, and what paint process is involved with those colors. This appears to be a lot more than a 2 stage paint, or even a 3 stage paint.
For example... the new Super Chevy has a beautiful 69 camaro that's House Of Kolor Tangelo Orange. Awesome color. From what I can gather, this is a candy color painted over a base coat of undetermined color. I found some yellow truck online that had that painted over a gold base.
Anyway, maybe I can explain the effect that I'm hoping to achieve and somebody can educate me about the HOK stuff. I want a red car that has an orange-ish reflection. When I painted my car I experimented with orange mica in the clear and although it gave me the reflective quality that I wanted, it left the color a murkey, pinkish-orange instead of red like I wanted. I settled for dumping a pile of the orange mica into the red basecoat, but the effect is way too subtle to notice. You've got to get right up to the paint to see the orange speckles.
So... what I think I more or less want is a red basecoat with an orange pearl coat, although I could settle for a red pearl coat.

Tangelo pearl is a basecoat/clearcoat. 2 stage.
There is a whole page of cool looking pearlbases like that, one you may look at is Cherry pearl, is a cool red with some pearl in it.</font>
