What kind of paint to use on suspension parts???

I bought a BMR K-Member awhile ago and it is powder coated black. I have sand blasted the a-arms as well as many other suspension parts and other underbody parts and i want to paint them a gloss black similar to that of the k-member. My question is, what would be a good paint for this ? I want something durable and something that looks good. Should i use a primer or something as a base coat?

Thanks in advance,

Brandon

For paint, you could try POR15, but I would get them powdercoated if I were you...

Is there a cheap place that does powder coating? I always thought it was a bit pricey compared to painting them yourself?

Are you interested in having the suspension look good, or just be painted? I'd use rustoleum at a minimum, but powder coating is the way to go. It will turn out so nice. My neighbor had an old (50's style) high chair powder coated, and it looks sweet. I think he paid $100, but it was well worth it.

Powder coating is definitely worth it. I have painted a few suspension parts using Rustoleum high strength enamel or something like that, it costs $5.00 a can and holds up OK, but usually it will have scratches all over by the time you get the part installed. Powder coating is the toughest paint you could use and will stick around longer than any kind of spray paint.

you know this may sound dumb but, benjamin moore makes a industrial high-gloss alkyd enamel product, (d.t.m. direct to metel) is self priming. it is formulated to self level and look like sprayed glass. even when brushed. it retails for $40-$50/ gallon.

BMR powdercoats parts as well. There may even be local places to you that can do powdercoating.
