Since my car was damaged due to a accident, Im going to do the 98 front end conversion. I want a cowl hood since everyone in my area has a ss hood, I want to be different. I found a couple of cool ones but still not sure which one, there is that Glasstek 4" cowl, VFN 4" cowl, VFN Sunoco style, the Harwood 3" cowl, or one I see on ebay 2.5" COWL HOOD. For anyone with these hoods can you tell your experience, the quality, visibility from inside the car, etc etc.... Also what size would go with 2,3,4? I want something that will look mean but not exagerated. THANKS

 

Personally, I love the SS hood. It looks agressive, it's functional, and it still leaves the car with an original look.

 

Mine's an LT-1 cowl hood but you can get the idea of what it looks like. Check picture link in sig.

 

I would go with a SS hood. I think the hood scoop lines just go nice with the car and the other two lines on both sides of the hood scoop.

 

I love my SS hood from ASCD, but since you dont want that, how bout the Ultra Z hood from SLP?

 

I hate the look of the ultra Z hood, I have a big block hood on my trans am and a friend of mine has it on his Z it looks good on his to.

 

A buddy of mine has that ultra z hood, it looks great but I want to be a little different. Most of the camaro's out here have a SS hood , I love them....but also like the cowl hoods as well. I want to know will I have a hard time with sdriving with a cowl hood.....is there any visibility issues?

 

ive never had any problems with mine, and the harwood is an extra-wide cowl.. so i doubt a normal one would be any worse. but as far as how high to go with, i think 2.5-3" is the only way to go. subtle but still looks good

 

My first choice would be an SS hood with a ZL1 stripe. But if you have your mind set on a cowl, I would go 3". It will still look agressive without being overdone.

 

 

^ thats the bigblock hood I was saying about I like the way that looks on that car, I have that hood on my TA.

 

what about the ram air hood that has the 2 vents on the front like the TA ws6

 

I have a 4" Glasstek cowl hood. It looks killer and there is no problems seeing.

 

I did the same thing. COnverted to the 98+ front end and opted for the 4" glasstek cowl. It's a little getting use to at first since it blocks a good chunck outa your line of site but once you get used to it it's like it's not even there. Fitiment was great and quality i am very happy with.
