Is it plastic or fiberglass? I have a small dent on the nose right above the opening by the front plate. It's right on the edge as it curves down. I know I didn't lean on it or anything, I wonder how it came there

 

its made of a polyurathane / glass mixture called smc (speciality molded compound) If you glass over it expect it to crack in a few weeks. The only way to fix it and not worry about the it cracking is to replace it entirely. Replacements can be found for around 200 bucks online. some people have stated they used a hea gun to remove dents but i dont sujest using this method

 

not smc, thermoplastic. SMC (sheet molded compound) doesnt bend and is what the doors are made of..

If you remove the bumper, look for some indentions that resemble >PUR< or >RIM< , these are thermosets, im not sure if you can heat these materials without ruining the bumper even more. I'll reply back in a few minutes after I look some things up.

 

Bumpers are plastic
Doors/Hatch are SMC
Fenders are R.I.M. (reaction injected molded) Plastic.
Quarters are steel.
Roof Skin?? I think its SMC also

Not to be rude but....everything you said was wrong.

The bumper cover is made from TPO, and SMC stands for Sheet moulding compound. And depending on the type of dent ect. a heat gun might do the trick although I wouldnt recomend it for someone with no experience.
I have repaired several minor imperfections in bumper covers with a heat gun.
The heat gun softens and relaxes the bumper and allows you to massage it back into shape, larger repairs generally require a repaint. there is also several different types of semi regid repair/fillers on the market that work great and will last the life of the cover if used correctly. Unless its a large erea or its torn on an edge that is stressed the cover can be usually be repaired.
