What do you all think
I just bought a black LS1 SS with the silver ten spokes. Do you think it would look good if I get my wheels powder-coated black and then have the front of the wheels machined so they look just like the black 35th anniversary wheels. I could get dark tint with headlight covers. What do you think, should I black it out?
I have a black SS myself and have had those same thoughts(except the headlight covers). IMO the "35th anniversary" wheels would look pretty good, although the chrome 10 spokes or chrome Z06 rims look better. And a slight tint may look good, but don't tint 'em too dark. I'd drop the idea of the headlight covers though....just my 2 cents.

I would get silver stripes to match the wheels and black out the headlights and turn signals and get silver SS badges. unless your doing yourself, i wouldn't expect anyone to bother machining the wheels for you, it would be a pain, plus it will takes days to paint the wheels.

As far as I know it is not a good idea to machine cast aluminum wheels. I know this holds true for other cast aluminum parts and I suspect it will hold true for wheels too.
Aluminum forms sort of a skin when the hot aluminum enters the form. The skin is stronger than the rest of the aluminum and to machine it off would significantly weaken the wheel.
