What color/brand red did you do you calipers in?

I am upgrading to 98+ F-body brakes and replacing rotors and pads all around. I also painting the calipers red and perhaps the brackets black. Either way what type of red did you use and what brand paint was it? I would like a nice red, not orange-red or too dark. Thanks.

Well I used the Duplicolor High Temp Paint. The color I used is "Chevrolet Orange-Red" but since you don't want that then the color that you are looking for I believe is......FORD Red. Yepp the Color that is next up and slightly darker than mine is Ford Red. Sorry about that. There are plenty of High temp shades of red though. Just dont do the new MetalCast anodized type ones, it has a nice red but will come out cranberry unless you polish the surface first. Just some FYI

Get the VHT Caliper paint in red. It's a really nice red red, no shade added to it.

Re: What color/brand red did you do you calipers in?

I just did mine a while back with the Duplicolor Caliper Painting Kit they have at Wal-Mart. It's real easy to use, and the red looks great. It dries a little bit darker than fire truck red or something like that, so I think it's about the color you're looking for.

If I had a camera I would take some pics, sorry...

I'd have to agree with that statement, since I used VHT

Thanks fella's looks like I have to do a bit more looking around, but that VHT looks like a pretty solid red. I just can stand seen those people with orange-red calipers and/or pumpkins.

Well I am looking at doing this tomorrow, up for any other suggestions or pics of specific brands or colors. Looks like I am tracking down some VHT tomorrow as of now.

I just painted mine tonight with Dupli-Color hi temp "red" just plain old red. It looks a little darker then that VHT paint. I would take pics but it'll look different in daylight and when its totally dry.

Thanks Brent, finally putting those decals I bought a few months ago to use I'll be buying some more soon and will be interested in what you could do for a BMW Z3 as far as Z3 decals that can stick to leather. My buddy has one and bought some vinyl "Z3" brushed aluminum for his seats fromt ebay and it wouldnt stick at all. So I told him I had a Camaro buddy who knows his stuff and might be able to work something out. Just let me know, I'll probably PM you with more details shortly.

Good deal, Dustin. Thanks!

On these calipers, has anybody used both the cheap Rust-Oleum type paint vs the expensive "made for brakes" type paint? I wonder if anybody has used both and can say if one is better than another?

Re: What color/brand red did you do you calipers in?

Polish is nice, but I am going for the C5 caliper look.

My buddy used Duplicolor on his grand prix and it turned orange-red on him, then he did Krypton or whatever and it turned a bit darker.

I am going to Summit tomorrow and getting VHT Red and Black Caliper Paint. It seems I see all the reds I like are the VHT Caliper paint red. My buddy's Dad wants to do them with POR-15, but its $20 a pint so thats over $40 for black and red. This is compared to 900* rated VHT for $14.98. I'll do VHT and if it doesnt work out, I'll gripe here. Thanks for all the help fella's.
