what cat back to get
what cat back to get
I'm currently replacing some parts in my camaro (its 10 years old) and my parents didnt really do maintenance on it. as of today I just got some new shocks, struts, cold air intake, new spark plugs/ wires, slotted disc brakes / and performance tires. everytime I replace a part I find a new one that needs to ge replaced. the car still runs but I just want it to get it back to good standards. any suggestion what type of cat back system and a catalytic converter I should get?. I'm also planning to get some headers in the near future.
Re: what cat back to get
Cat-back system its really up to your tastes i think. Here are my top 3.
1. Corsa-makes an awesome exhaust, looks good sounds great.
2. Borla-Million Mile Warranty, adjustable from closed to open exhaust, sounds good as i have it on my car.
3. Stainless Works 3.0" exhaust...the thing is freakin awesome and at $650 for a 3.0"in/3.0"out exhaust its the cheapest of the bunch.
As for a cat...with the plans for headers...i would say forget them, just go buy 02 sims. If you NEED it for some reason...a high flow cat would do pretty good.
These again are my opinions,
Dave

Re: what cat back to get
What year is the car? If its 93-95 you won't need O2 sims. Hooker makes a great cat-back at a good price. Very mellow at idle but it gets louder when you give it some throttle.
Re: what cat back to get
I have a hooker cat-back and I think it sounds really nice with long-tubes. If I didn't have this Hooker I'd probably go with an SLP 2OTL. Both are relatively cheap. The Corsa and Borla that s3gulit mentioned are really nice exhausts, but they're a bit more expensive.
Re: what cat back to get
I would go with hooker if your looking for cheap, non stainless. Which is what I did, it doesn't sound bad and I seem to get compliments on it. If you were wanting something more expensive you could go with the GMMG which as stated above. I've not heard the Stainless Works, but I'm half tempted to pick one up and try it out.
Still kind of confused on why this is in the "appearance" section.

the exhaust system for your 94 is $800...which is comparible to the Borla Exhaust i believe. I'm still debating about getting the monster sized Stainless Works Exhaust though.
I have the Borla as stated and the Million Mile Warranty is awesome...the borla was on it when i bought the car in November, and i called them up, told them that i needed a new rear y-pipe and they sent me one no questions asked. I returned the old one with the broken bolts and everything was fixed.

Stainless it nice, but you can get a GMMG for less than $800, and I like to think anything worthy of 427 LS1's and the ZL1 is more than worth it for my needs.

I have a Magnaflow on mine. For your car it's under 500 with a very nice sound and great looks. I had the Loudmouth until I got a nice ticket for the noise. The magnaflow has a nice "don't give me a ticket sound" at idle but get on it and it opens up nice.
