what are the best apperence mods??
Re: what are the best appearance mods??
Gotta say a lot of the cheap stuff looks cheesy but for a few bucks you can do a few tasteful mods:
Exterior:
Clear corners (real cheap = $20 on eBay)
Front/Rear inlays (less than $10 unless you get the domed inlays)
Paint calipers (maybe $10 max for paint/materials)
The problem with removing the door molding is that you don't know if the paint has faded or if the door has been repair.
Engine:
Throttle body cover
Elbow
Oil fill cap
PLEASE don't get the red wire looms = cheesy
Interior:
Can't think of anything cheap that doesn't look cheesy
Maybe a shift ball but the cheap ones rattle. PLEASE don't get the aluminum HVAC ***** = cheesy.
If you can spend a little more money, even with the stock exhaust you can get GOOD exhaust tips for around $80 and chrome stock 97-99 "five-star" wheels for around $150 if you shop around.
The best appearance mod you can do it do a good cleaning, especially the engine bay. A little Simple Green, Armor All and a bunch of rags and steel wool will make your engine bay look nice. Just be careful not to get the opti wet.

Re: what are the best apperence mods??
Sorry guys I can't get pics for a while... I crashed it last night going over hill, the rear end just started skidding around, and I ended up in a ditch.
Re: what are the best apperence mods??
dam. sorry to hear that man. hope you can get her back to tiptop shape! im assuming you live up north and the road was slippery or something. jsut be careful man!
Re: what are the best apperence mods??
No, middle tennesse. But I will probably have to repace the front bumper, front right quarter, maybe hood and front left quarter, and maybe back bumper, and then probably a paint job. And my insurance is going to cover it, I got it towed out of the ditch and to a body shop this morning an hopefully look at it today to.
Re: what are the best apperence mods??
dam, well atleast you can get some new parts and some fresh paint lol and thats awesome taht your insurance is covering it too. well keep us updated on the progress man!
Re: what are the best apperence mods??
Ok. And do you no, if you can order a factory rs bumper and put it on a base model? I was thinking about doing that to get some ground affects. And we too it to a family friends body shop, so he's going to be able to work with them.
Re: what are the best apperence mods??
yeah man, the factory RS lip kit is only the small lip below the bumper. you can get one probably for like 150 to 200 bucks painted. but the whole kit all around would probably run ya alittle more.
Re: what are the best apperence mods??
I am a low-key kind of guy when it comes to my cars. I usually like the factory look over something "overdone". But those "hockey stick" stripes are pretty cool, IMO. Here is a pic of my 97, my question is this...how would the gold metallic look? Would it be cheesy? I know it is totally up to me, but what are your opinions?
