and they look pretty sweet but i noticed some rust spots tryin to pop up ( they wipe right off) and i was wonderin how i could prevent them if possible....

you want to spray on some anti rust spray. You have bare metal showing, they will rust easily. Kind of like an open wound that can get infected

 

What I would do...is spray them with something like Zack said that is designed to fight rust, THEN paint them with a few good coats of High temp Clear. That way...they'll not only be protected, but they'll stay looking shiney and new.

 

I suggest removing and clear coating them.

 

How exactly did you polish them? I just painted mine black, with a clear coat over them, but polished sounds a lot cooler.

 

i just sanded them with down till smooth and shiney, then polished them like ten times.....never put any clear on.. i'm gonna do that this weekend.

 

I just did my front two a couple of weeks ago. They are cast iron so you will have to clear coat them which will take away from some of the shine.

One of mine I cleared and the other I didn't to see what would happen. The cleared one is just fine, but the first time I washed the car the other one started showing some rust. It's a shame too because it looked sweet. I spent alot of time on it too and it even matched my chrome wheels.
