Well, car's in the shop....

Getting the front end damage fixed......I WILL be taking pics once I get it back all nice and shiny, and after I apply Brent's decals.

Now I gotta drive my ****ty '88 Celebrity to work all week.

What decals are you getting? You are the one who was wavering between getting the eyeshadow painted black or leaving it green right?

Yup, I made an official decision today when I talked to the guy at the shop.......I'm getting the eyeshadow painted gloss black and the foglight area gloss black also. Just like the black LT1's have.

I'm getting Chevy bowtie center cap decals for my rims, an LT1 throttle body plate decal, a "5.7 LT1" decal for under the left taillight, and three silver Z28 emblem overlays.

That's awesome! When I was cleaning the silver Z28 the other day for the car show in Fort Worth, I noticed that a lot of the black in the fog light area had worn away. We might need to get that painted in the future.

Yeah, mine was beat to crap. I was gonna get it re-done in flat black, but I just love how the black Camaros look with the gloss black there and I've also seen other colors with that done.....even the guy at the shop agreed with me that it would look really sharp done up in gloss black. He even said he'd hook me up with it for free cuz the repaint on those areas weren't figured in on the original estimate, for some reason.

That's great! Take some close-up comparison shots if you can (a before and after comparison). I'd be really interested in seeing an upclose look at the difference. Meanwhile, I think I might whip out the black acrylic paint and touch that area up on the car... maybe no one will notice

The car's already at the shop, but I believe I have a few shots (at least one) of the front headlight area the day after I got the car. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to see the difference. It looked horrible.

Well, I found a spot to take pictures once I get the car back......on sort of a cliff overlooking the river that runs through my town. I went down there today in my beater and positioned it right where I would want the Z.....I think it'll turn out awesome.

Yeah I've been scouting out different spots and different times the last few days......I found the definitive spot tonight, and after visiting a few other possible spots I had at different times of the evening, I've come to the conclusion that between 7:30 and 8:05 on a clear evening is prime time, because the sun's not really high enough to make the shots come out crappy, but yet there's still just enough light so it's not too dark.

I've got it down to an exact science. I guess I'm just bored, or really excited to get my car back soon.

Re: Well, car's in the shop....

Got it back today.........MAN it looks awesome......the only thing is, they couldn't paint the black around the headlights cuz they have to wait 60 days for the front end paint to cure totally before they can put tape on it. So I'm going back the first week of October for the headlight areas and foglight areas to be done in gloss black.

It still looks badass though.....from a distance you can't tell that the flat black areas are a little worn. Hopefully I get my decals from Brent either tomorrow or Saturday so I can go to the river and take pics.

Re: Well, car's in the shop....

When you take pics, make sure the sunlight is behind you instead of in front of you so you don't get a silhouette of the car instead of well, the car. I work a little part time as a photographer's assistant so I know a few tricks. If you don't want the car to glare at all, you need to go against what I first said, and wait until the sun is nearly directly over the car, but a little bit to the OPPOSITE side of what side you are shooting. The only problem with that is the car may look too dark since it is polo green. I'm not really sure. You could always spend the entire day waiting for the sun to get into position!

Yeah I was scouting out different times, and I came to the conclusion that at the spot where I'm planning to shoot, the best time is around 7:30-8:10 or so.....the sun's sorta behind the trees (but not facing where the camera would be) so it gives a good "backlight" (for lack of a better term) but yet the sun's not shining directly on the car.

That, and because the parking lot is downtown and behind some buildings, I gotta wait till later so there ain't nobody in the parking lot.

Oh! It's a parking lot? I had a vision in my head that you were going to be dangling the car off a cliff .
Sort of like one of these:
