Vert glass came loose!

the top edge of my convertible's rear glass window became separated from the cloth top. I took it to a top shop and was told it would be about 550, because the back portion of the top needs to be replaced. apparently the glass comes heat-sealed from the manufacturer, so using a simple adhesive will likely come apart after a short while. however, he suggested I could try using some kind of epoxy as a temporary solution until I can afford to repair it. anyone ever try this? what kind of adhesive can I specifically use to bond cloth to glass?

Try another shop, I had my entire top replaced, with the rear glass but the shop owner said he could reuse the rear window panel and glue it to the new top if I wanted to. I opted against it and went all the way.

That price sounds fair to me mine was around $500. The glue will not hold for more than a week two at most if you try glue it your self .After glass comes apart top srinks a little and its hard to stretch rear of top and glue at the same time.

The same thing happened to me. Here's a quick rundown of how I fixed it:

1. I opened the top slightly and placed a roll of tape between the top and the front windshield to put some slack in the material.

2. I cleaned both surfaces (glass and vinyl strip)

3. I put 2 thin beads of silicone glue (approximately 1/8") on the upper portion of the glass.

4. I worked my way from the left to right (sitting inside the vehicle) slowly pressing the vinyl section to the glass, making sure to work all the bubbles/gaps out.

5. I let the glue dry overnight and trimmed any excess glue away from the inside and outside of the glass.

I have pressure tested this fix with a power washer and it has not come loose. I've had it fixed this way for over 6 months and it's still holding strong. The fix looks the same as what came from the factory. If you want to see what my top looks like go to my page here and scroll down towards the bottom. It doesn't look cheesy and it has held up very well.

Good luck.
