Update on my custom leatherseat install...pictures of them in the car!

This is what I have gotten done so far today. I'm just finishing up one of the door panels and i'll do the other tommorow. The pics were taken at night but you will get the idea of what they look like in the car. In some of them you can see my old door (i haven't taken it out yet) and you can notice how drasitcally i changed the color in my car (from tan to black....man was that a pain!)

Thumbs up Nice Dude!

Wow!! I really like the setup Mark! . I actually emailed them tonight to have them price something out for me! I noticed you have the 97+ console mod. I am looking into doing this soon. Do you like it? Was it hard to do? Recommend it? Please PM if you can, otherwise I will PM you sometime this weekend. Again, I LOVE your new leather seats. Are they just covers, or do you actually rip off the old material? Thanks for any answers! Keep up the great work! Love the ride!

Judging by the pics, I'm about 99.99% sure he replaced the original material, and didn't just cover it up, but, guess he can tell us for sure. Damn those do look mighty good though!!

Ok i'm gonna try and answer everyones questions

Cerwin Vega Fan: I paid $646 shipped for all the seats, door panel inserts and installation tools, there website says that the 2 fronts are $579 I believe.

96 TA: You can get them in black and blue, they have tons of colors. All you need to do is go to this website http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webc...w_v1&mkid=6RKX Its a credit card from Bankone with no APR for 12 months. This is how I afforded the whole project now (I have the money in my bank account but while at school i'm paying alittle over $100 a month off and in the summer i'll finish paying it off. Its nice b/c it lets me buy everything I need for my project at once and pay it off overtime....but do not get used to charging stuff, I always make sure that I have the money in my account before I buy anything)

Mitch93Z28: Yes I did repaint the interior, I used Vinal Spray by Plasti-Cote. I just finished painting everything so i'm not sure about the durability but I hope that it lasts! I also used an acrylic clearcoat over the spray. I wanted to keep the stock texture so I sanded the panels down with 360 grit sand paper, next I washed them with dawn, cleaned them with Acetone then washed them with dawn again. I sprayed 7 coats of vinal spray and 3 coats of clear. This was the longest part of my project b/c I had to give it time to dry. (word of advice the vinal spray SMELLS!!! My mother yelled at me everyday for 2 weeks while painting the pieces b/c it stunk up the house, I live in CT, its 20 degrees here now so I can't do it outside.)

95RedBird02: Yes I did take off the old covers and replaced them with the leather covers. I think i'm going to sell my old covers now, they are still in good condition

94WhiteZ28: I do have a '97 so it came with the car, the only thing I did was clear coat the console so it looks like I armor-alled it all the time It was really easy to do the seats, I did them in a matter of 2 hours. I would suggest getting to doorpanels done profesionly b/c they are harder. Save money and do the seats yourself but have the doorpanels done b/c you need a highpower staple gun and experience to do them (I kinda messed the panel I did so far up ) I would recommend it for anyone who wants a custom look its a great do-it-yourself project. I cost alittle bit of money but the leather feels great and it sure does get alot of compliments (from the ladies )

KillerTA: I did have to get the leatherseats.com logo, they gave me a discount on the seats for putting that on my headrests. Since that is there logo I doubt I could have gotten it without the .com. If you want to do the project you can get whatever you want embrodiered there (if you want chevy trademarks you have to pay royalties) If you guys get a group purchase together the seats will be cheaper and they may throw in free embrodiery. I don't mind the logo, everytime I see it it tells me that some company acknowledged all the hard work I put in my car and felt it worth while to give me a discount for advertising on my car. AND.......if I ever get really tired of it, I recovered the seats myself so I can always just get 2 new front top covers and put them on.

One more thing about the company.....Jermey (the salesman that I bought the seats from) actually e-mailed me today. He wanted to know if I had some pics of how the install was going and if i was happy with everything. He thought I posted on some wierd camaro message board and was actually searching the board trying to see how my install was going! (I told him I was an active member of camaro message boards). If any of you want to do this project but have any hesitations just give them a call or e-mail they are truley very helpful and care about their customer. (I've never had a salesman care about me AFTER I bought a product from them, espcially when its one that I can't return!)

Sorry its so long, I tried to space things out so you wouldn't have to read the whole message to find what your looking for.

Mark

No the seats were cloth and say 30th anniversery on them, they are in good condition. I don't have the door panels since i painted them black. I'm probably going to sell them for $125+shipping (which shouldn't be much). I'm going to take some pics and put them in the "for sale" section tonight. They great for someone who already has a tan interior and wants a spare just incase since these are OEM and if you try to get them from the dealer they will be big $$$!!!!!
