I LIKE THEM! i think that should have been the hood on the car from the factory. It's function makes perfect sense with the design, Not to knock the 96 & 97 guy's with the SS but the way they did that air box set up was like an after thought. It seemed to take away from the Engine bay's appearence. Mine took alot of adjusting to match up the nose and the front of the hood but eventually I got it looking good.

Just FYI for the original poster, VFN Fiberglass is coming out with an ultra-z esque hood very soon. They are also generally regarded as a higher quality producer than most from what I've read on many sites. There is a thread about it over on LS1Tech I believe. That's what I'm going to wait for, so I thought I would let you know.

This is one I actually like! I think it matches the lines of the car very well and more importantly it's a much better and more functional placement for the opening. I'm a firm believer in "form follows function".
