ugly plastic piece in engine bay

I know some people have painted that plastic piece in the engine bay right next to the front bumper... did you mask it off to paint it? or take it out? if you did take it out, what do you do with those little tabs that hold in on the front? can you get them out with a screwdriver or something? or do they just break and you replace them with something else? thanks!

I think you are talking about the plastic rivets along the top lip of the nose cover? If so, look for a small slot in the top. Use a small screw driver in the slot to lift the center up. Once you release them, they just lift out. Then remove it. Clean that eye sore really good with mineral spirits. Scuff it with fine sand paper. Shoot it with the stuff that makes paint stick to flexible materials before you top coat it to your final color. I did mine semi gloss black to match the badges, that way, I didn't have to worry about color matching the body color. Looks much better.
