Trying to decide what color nuts to get!
Lugnuts that is. Sickos.

Okay...picture this...
Black '02 SS
No red on it (grey trimmed SS badges)
Tinted windows
Lowered
Z06 wheels (dk. grey, not chrome)
Okay...now...
What lug nuts should I get?
Should I get the stock ones w/plastic color matching caps like shown here?
http://www.corvetteconti.com/images/Z06_Wheel.jpg
or here:
http://www.edmunds.com/media/roadtes....wheel.350.jpg
I also have some silver lug covers that I discovered from a long time ago, but I dunno how well they would go together with teh dark grey color of the wheels.
The problem is that I like to have locking lugs just for piece of mind, and I am partial to Gorilla (brand) nuts because each one is a lock and still looks very good. For those of you who are not familiar with how they look, it is hard to find a good pic of them. The best I could find is here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...8&category=303
You can go to their web site and wonaload their catalog, which is a HUGE file. Their site has been under construction for years.
http://www.gorilla-auto.com
The ones I prefer are on page 14 and 15 of part 1 of their downloadable catalog. If you care.
So...
I could get chrome Gorilla nuts, but there isn't anything else on my car that is chrome, so that might not look quite right. I think you can also get them in black as well which might be my ticket and would be a little more unique.
So what do you guys think? Just looking for opinions. It is kinda slow here at work today.
You can tell...
I was really laughing hard after searching long enough for "gorilla nuts" on google.

If you can find the black gorillas (
that sounds funny) I would go that route along with black plastic nut-covers.
If you can only get chrome gorillas, rough up the top "dome" of the nut with a little 400 grit, and rattlecan it gray or black. Tape off the "teeth" portion so you don't get a bunch of paint in there affecting your key engagement. I know what you're thinking, the black paint will peel and chip off the chrome. True, you may have to repaint the "dome" of the lug nut every few months but it couldn't take any more than 30 minutes to do.
I am a believer in the gorilla locking lug nuts. I wish every car with alloy wheels came with them as an option.
EDIT: Upon browsing their PDF brochure I see that they offer "black chrome". Looks like that would be the way to go.

just my two cents
I like Gorilla Nuts too Jason...
I have used the chrome Gorilla Nuts on more than one occasion...
The black chrome Gorilla Nuts might be worth checking out - if they are really a "dark" looking nut, then that would be the easiest, and most lasting way to go.
But my first thought is still my favorite. Just take some of the chrome Gorilla Nuts, or if you can get plain Gorilla Nuts, strip them down (acid, whatever) and powedercoat them to match the wheels. You're not talking about a lot of expense, and you would have some fine looking nuts. But you would need to completely strip them and all in whatever manner is necessary for powdercoating to stick. The stuff may stick on chrome, but I don't think so.?.?.
If you do decide to go with the others (in your first two pics) those would look fine too, but I understand about you wanting some locking nuts. I also have to ask:
Good luck with your nuts!

I think I am gonna learn toward the black chrome version. If that doesn't look right, there is a big powdercoating company a few blocks from where I live.
Thanks, gang!

What was the price on the black chrome lugs? They really do look sweet.

Just so everyone knows, I got the black gorilla nuts.

I had to order them as they didn't have them in stock, but I just picked them up today. Came to just under $60. Not too bad for peace of mind.
They are decent looking, but the only problem I have is that in the downloadable brochure they look like black chrome, but in real life they are just black and semi-gloss.
Oh well, no biggie. I think they will look just fine.
