trans am front clip on camaro

ive seen the one picture on when gm just bolted on the trans am front clip on a camaro, but it didnt line up, the lines didnt flow, has anyone actually done this and done the work on the door to make all the lines come together? i think that would be a pretty cool mod

Re: trans am front clip on camaro

i think that would look horrible....... like the ferrari mods for old mitsubishi trucks..... your trying to turn a car into something its not... and a firebird clip on a camaro? yuck..... maybe on the OLDer firebirds... like the 93 - 97.... but before i did that? i would relocate the headlights, and make the headlight recessment solid.... like... blackouts, but permanent, and body color.... but to try a new front clip? thats risque'.... id like to see an early 4th gen firebird clip on a camaro, but not the newer WS6 style.... that would be an eyesore...

Either you have a Pontiac or Chevy F-body, don't mix and match.

Well, i doubt anyone has done the work, if you get the door skins for the other car, you'll need the rear fendors to match up with the lines of the doors and by then, you've converted the whole car. It could be done, but you would need a lot of work on the doors to really get it to flow

Re: trans am front clip on camaro

I saw an older F-body the other day, and was trying to figure out what it was...

turns out it is an 82 Trans Am, but the front fenders, nose, and hood have been replaced with 1982 Z28 items. It now has early '80s Camaro rims. As the 3rd Gens share the same doors, and both cars have relatively straight, sharp edged body lines, everything lines up. Didnt look too bad, actually.

On the 4th Gen cars, I'd say forget it, because they are too different style wise.

If you want a V8 F-body, buy one, they are out there, and relatively cheap now, especially the '93-'97 models.

all hes saying... is that those are 2 totally different bodys, and if you liked the front end off a firebird that much, you shoulda got a firebird! the tail lights on a camaro arent exactly a cherished item.... they look nice.. but not that nice... in all honesty? i like the firebird lights better.... before i would put the front of a bird onto a camaro, i would put a camaro clip on a bird.... i like the "shark" like look of the camaro front end... the firebird from 93 - 97 looked kinda plain, still nice, but once again we are talking about switching front ends here.... the way i see it, the less you do to modify a cars overall look, the better.

so.... it must also have ricer tail lights, hydraulics, 13" wire wheels with white walls, a limo spoiler, Auto zone "Type R" seat covers and a "Michoacan" sticker on the back window...possible "whistle tips" as well... correct? LOL im sorry, i hate those things... biggest waste of space on the road... just my opinion though, to each their own, but those whistle tips are just a horror of a sound, how do people get off on that?

Re: trans am front clip on camaro

and honestly, if it took him 8 years to slap a ferrari kit on it.......... WOW!!!!! lol i have a loss of words for someone who would spend 8 years doing ANYTHING with a car, unless its a '39 roadster that was a total rustbucket when you got it.... lol or a 69 camaro rustbucket, that had a mirror for a motor/driveline (if you know what i mean) but just a ferrari kit on a truck? a week.... tops...

Re: trans am front clip on camaro

I don't know if it was a full 8 years honestly.... I just know it took 'em forever. It was the project they worked on when they didn't have anything else to do. It really doesn't have too bad of a set-up. The wheels are tasteful (Think Crager SS knock-offs), and I don't recall it even having a spoiler. Regardless, I see your point.
