Tinted Mirrors..?
Tinted Mirrors..?
Why is it that I sometimes see blue tinted side-view mirrors on Firebirds? I've never seen these mirrors on Camaros and, from time to time, I also see the same tint on luxury vehicles... Was this a factory option? What does it do? (prevent glare?) Can I have it done to my mirrors? (It looks pretty cool, IMO)
Re: Tinted Mirrors..?
Im pretty sure its illegal to tint your side mirrors in most states. My 2002 suburban has auto dimming rear view and side mirrors, it kind of has a blueish tint to them, its really noticeable when im backing out of my garage. I dont know what year they started it but it might have been an option for firebirds, TA's and camaro's. It might also be regular tint. Im not sure what that blueish mirror tint that you see on Lexus' is for. It probably prevents glare and UV rays without the darkness of regular tint.
Re: Tinted Mirrors..?
My last car had it. I bought it from the original owner who ordered it new. He said it was an option. When i sold that car, my brother wanted the mirrors for his 02 ws6, so we switched.
Re: Tinted Mirrors..?
its not something that stands out like they are navy blue or anything. I didnt notice them until i was driving the car and looked in the mirror. I dont know what the purpose behind them were. I liked them though.
Re: Tinted Mirrors..?

My car came like that it was a factory option, from what i can tell the blue mirrors make headlights behind you less bright and destracting. Downside is when cars have blue headlights the the mirrors make them look twice as bright and its pretty blinding. I like mine...
Re: Tinted Mirrors..?
i have them on my 97. i was like wtf when i bought it, and i bought it with mirror tint on the sides and back glass so i figured the guy went all out but i came to realize they do it alot from the factory, so apparently it was an option.
