tint over dot matrix on hatch

had car tinted today by a reputable shop in my area(have had all my cars tinted by them). never had a problem until today with my camaro hatch(the dot matrix at the top). now ive read that this can be a tricky area to tint but i expected it to turn out better than it did. i inspected the vehicle before leaving & mentioned the matrix area to her. she seemed to know right away when i mentioned it to her & it really wasnt that bad, just a small area on the left & a smaller area on the right that didnt look quite right. well she came outside with a little squeegee & tried to make it better but to no avail. she told me to let it sit out longer in the sun(get the window little hotter)& then try to squeegee it again as she told me to go ahead & keep the squeegee. well i came home & tried what she said & if anything the problematic area has gotten bigger up at the top. im beginning to think that its only gonna get worse. to top it all off my i noticed what looked like air bubbles on the side windows but looks almost like water in the bubbles rather than air. tried to squeegee those also but didnt do much. so should i give it a few more days & see if it gets better? i really cant do much for a few more days anyways cause of the holiday but ill be ready to take the car back if i have to next week. i just hate to pay $200 for a shoddy job. ive never had a problem with them b4 but i have a feeling im about to find out how good their customer service is. should i be able to demand the whole car retinted if not happy or my money back if they dont want to mess with it? of course theyll probably try to make it better but if they cant then i was just wondering what u guys would do or have done in this situation.

re

I would demad for them to make it right or refund my money. If you just paid today and wrote a check I would call and have it held until they get it fixed correctly. Shops will listen when they haven't been paid yet. But thats just me. I have been screwed to many times so I don't play games.

most times the the bubbles you see will actually evaporate when left out in the sun. i bet here in a few days your side windows will be fine, the dot matrix on the other hand might have me worried.

Be fair with them and see if they will be fair with you. Stop by and explain your concerns with the side window and let them at least try to fix the situation. It might just take some time.

But the rear...very few shops can say they will guarantee a dot matrix. The rear dot matrix is a nightmare. I wound up using a black window paint on my last one and it looked okay, but not like I wanted it to.

I hear good things about this product, I wish I had tried it.

Maybe you can buy some and ask that they redo the rear using it.

Here is a good resource as well:

Good luck!

My rear tint came out good. the tint guy used a scrubber style sponge and actually sanded the matrix down abit.

I have this same problem, but mine was already done when i bought the car. what do you guys think about trying to scrape the dots down with a razor blade?

I don't think that can be easily done, those dots are pretty tough. I have heard of people using steel wool to file them down but once you screw something up, you are stuck with it. I would try the Magoops thing, at least that can be undone if it doesn't turn out well.
