One thing you can do to help you decide what amount you want to tint...take a walk around a tinted car. Look at it from the sides, diagonals, and ESPECIALLY DIRECTLY from the back. I say this because if you are looking at the car from the back it will usually look rather see-through, because of all the light coming through the windshield of the car. So yea, 5% in back, 15% on sides for around $100 for the newer style tint =
hey tair any pics of the 15 %? im thinking of going 15% all the way around. i like to cruise at night so i dont want it to dark where i cant see s***. do you guys think 15% will look good? I will probably go down to the tint shop in a couple of days to see the differences. I cant wait to paint my car black, it will look sweet

Mine is 15% sides and 5% rear. Had it for about 3 years now and it still looks great. Never had any problems with the cops (knock on wood) either since front windows are illegal to tint here.

I just use the t-top shades, I have the older dot matrix style tint on my t-tops and it sucks. A darker tint would probably help a lot.

I've been leaving my t-top shades off year round so I figure a re-tint on the t-tops would be a good idea...maybe 5-10% so the girlie can still see the stars at night...

We were going to tint my dad's champane(silverish-tan) Bonneville black but he said that we probably wouldnt like the way it turned out, so he suggested a Bronze mirror tint and that looks great too!
Bonnevilles bronze:
So ask him what he recommends for as hard core racer w/a white Formula Firebifd (95 model)...I want something diff. LMK

Thanks its coming along, I am never happy with it. I want charcoal grey paint job with ghost flames and then I want nicer rims and I am going to paint the center charcoal grey also and leave the lip chrome. Also I hate my front GFX the guys who molded it on did a sh!tty job and it doesn't go with my side and rear. Anyways the 15% on the sides is perfect I can see fine at night. The 5% rear however combined with my spoiler can make for challenges backing up at night, luckily I have circular driveways.

I paid $95 for a perfect tint job with lifetime warranty. It is LLumar film. I also know the guy that did it, but he didn't give me a major break. So yes - $95 is a good price.

My tint is rated at 10% light transmission, but it actually only allows 7.5% - dunno why that is, just is...

My guy is on vacation but his partner said for a white car they typically go for a smokey black with a light mirror to it...He said if you tint a white cars windows black it looks like you painted the windows black and draws attention away from the rest of the car...My Bf has this on his white '90 Camaro and it looks great cause it reflects back and lightens up the look of the windows plus helps keeps more light out by reflecting it, Ill see if I can find some pics of his Camaro...

As for something different he suggested flame tinting which looks great with mirror tint (I would do it myself but here in CA I would get harrassed constantly) and there are tons of different designs you can do-you can have the flames cut out of the mirror part of the tint and have the smokey tint show through the flame or you can have the window tinted and have the flames made out of mirror tint(or any varitey of color)...Heres some nice examples off the net:

This site may give you some good ideas:

EDIT: I have also been throwing around the idea of a checkerd flag design like the flames on the side windows...where the white checks are mirrored and black part is the smoked black...would be sweet to see someone do it!
