Tint

What did you guys pay to get your side windows and rear hatch tinted? Is $95 a good price for the 3 windows? It comes with a lifetime warranty and no sales tax. Also what does it usually cost for an alarm?

$95 is a very good price for window tint, As long as it's quality tint like 3M. But you would also have a lifetime warranty so I can't see how you could go wrong with that.

Yeah thats a great price for tint. With alarms though its hard to say because it all depends on what type of alarm you get and what options.

That's a very good price. My Z's a 'vert and it costs less to get mine done than a regular hatchback but I know I paid more than that.

I got quoted $75 for the hatch and 2 doors with 3M tinting. What sort of percentages are you guys going with? I have two 10" subs in the back so I'm thinking limo tint on the hatch...and I know the 'legal' percentage is 35% on the sides but I was thinking more like 15-20%...?

legal in VA is like 50% on the sides and 35% on the back i think needless to say i plan on going darker...like 20%...a lot of people say 5 is too dark at night and i dont really care to have it blacked out anyway

definnately a good price... I paid $120 for hatch and doors for 3M tint with a hint of blue in it(blue hint was sugested by my tint guy, I wasnt so sure, but it blends great with the car!)

actually this is probably a better pic of the doors:

10% hatch and 20% doors...The doors are nice cause I dont get hassled about them by the cops(CA=NO tint on doors!) but its enough that if someone wants to be nosie they have to put there face against the glass to see any detail...My BF reacently installed a sub and amp in my T/A so Im thinking about going limo in the back for security purposes BUT it makes it that much harder to back up at night! I also think I want a bit of mirror tint on it...

Price also depends on what colors/type you get, if you have a good tinter(my guy does all the tinting for cars you see in commercials and show cars) he can also suggest a good color for your car- not all tint is black...Were were going to tint mine black but he suggested a tint with a hint of blue in it and it looks great... We were going to tint my dad's champane(silverish-tan) Bonneville black but he said that we probably wouldnt like the way it turned out, so he suggested a Bronze mirror tint and that looks great too!
Bonnevilles bronze:

I have 20% on mine but I'd like it to be a little darker, maybe 15% or 10%.

I got quoted $20/window for the older style tint....and $30/window for the new 3M tint. The new 3M tint is awesome cause it uses no dye whatsoever, so it'll never turn purple. I went with 30% all around...which is alrite I supposed, but I really wish I went with 15%. 15% is good for the side windows, you won't be able to see in very much. 5% on the side windows will probably get you pulled over though. One thing you can do to help you decide what amount you want to tint...take a walk around a tinted car. Look at it from the sides, diagonals, and ESPECIALLY DIRECTLY from the back. I say this because if you are looking at the car from the back it will usually look rather see-through, because of all the light coming through the windshield of the car. So yea, 5% in back, 15% on sides for around $100 for the newer style tint =
