Those with polished wheels......

What do you guys use to clean your wheels. On the Fikse website it says to use Simple Green but recently I have been told Simple green is corrosive. Lately I have just been using water and a rag but it doesn't get the water spots off my wheels and it seems I have to polish them everytime I power wash my car. What are some ways you guys keep your polished wheels clean?

You can try this stuff called Zoop Seal. I haven't used it, but I've heard good things about it except that it's expensive. You put it on your wheels and you don't have to polish them again for a couple years, and to wash the wheels you just use soap and water. Here's a link to someone that sells it: http://www.stylinconcepts.com/parts....CategoryID/124

I use either blue magic or fritz polish. These two are excellent cleaner-polishes for clearcoated polished aluminum wheels. I have the same problem with mine from time to time they will develop some oxidation spots and the surface will occasionally get slightly dull or cloudy. I thought initially that the clearcoat would protect them and keep them clean, but the polished surface will still oxidize under the clear, that's why you need the cleaner.

Either of these two will work well. Good luck.

That's the same stuff I use, Mother's Billet Aluminum Polish. Works good, but doesn't seem to last too long. My friend used some other stuff on his Bronco wheels, I don't know what it was but it came in a blue tin, and it lasted a long time. Even when he was offroading and getting mud and junk on them, when he would wash his truck off, the wheels would still be shiny. If anybody else knows what it is, I'd like to know.

I use mothers mag polish (like 3-4 bucks a can). I takes a little elbow grease but works well. Then to keep them shining I coat them with a couple layers of wax. Did mine at the beginning of summer and still look good today!

I use soap and water and the mag polish. But your problem seems to be when the water spots are left and you don't feel like polishing. Here is what I do. Just grab some window cleaner and it works great and does not hurt the wheel. I prefer a foam window cleaner but regular windex works good too.

blue magic is quite well and definately a second choice to the mothers......some strong smelling stuff though if your working in doors.

after polishing coat it with 100% carnuba like a stage 3 meguiars or the like. it will last plenty long.

Has anyone else tried this? After you apply it, what do you use to keep the wheels clean?

I use a product called wenol. I haven't polished my wheels a pretty long time also. This is because I don't drive my car in the rain, and when I wash my car the wheels are wiped dry with a towel.

dunno if anyone has tried this but its real popular around here due to the salt...

Put a REAL thin coat of vasaline on the wheel.. so u cant even see it.. wont look weird or anything looks like your normal wheel and when they get dirty and u wash your car.. u can just wipe off the dirt because it stuck to the vasaline.. and re-apply every so often.. works great

Back when I had polished I also used Mother's Aluminum polish. Works great. Just gotta make sure to keep up with it.

Too much work for me, that's why I wanted chrome with my new car
