Re: those headlights covers

I had them on my car. As the other guy mentioned you cant hardly see at night. When it's raining it's a really bad. I used my fog lights as my lighting source or high beams. The fogs worked better. But you can always pop them off a night - they just hold in place with velcro. I eventually converted to the round headlight mod which looks awesome. They came out with a carbon fiber headlight cover. Which seems to have that smoke light and give more light out then the blackout version. I would check into the carbon fiber. But the dark black ones are awesome - they dress up the car big time. - Anymore questions just let me know - I will be glad to help

Re: those headlights covers

the headlight covers suck. They really really cut down on light output. You have to run high beams with them to get low beam performance out of them. I wouldn't run them at night unless i had some headlight conversion. Oh and i got pulled over for mine too, thats why i ditched them.

Re: those headlights covers

Don'tMix just touched on my question.....not to hijack your thread.....but what's to keep some jackass from taking your headlight covers and throwing them on his car? I've never had them before and was looking into some clears, but from what I've seen, they don't attach very securely.

Anyone have problems with this at all?

Again, sorry about the hijack.

Re: those headlights covers

Well the 93-97 camaro headlight covers are fairly easy to steal. ---Thats if somebody wanted them. All that holds them on is velcro. I would not worry about that - just dont park next to the same generation of camaro . You will be fine I would defently buy them. They look awesome on the camaro. They made a carbon fiber - which has a lighter smoke look to it for the same price. But then again just take them off when you drive at night - so you can see where your going. Hey for 30-35$ you cannot beat that. Also these headlight covers snap into the velcro theres no way that coming off when it's lock into place trust me. Just make sure you screw those mounting brackets in. Dont rely on velcro - Because I'm sure it will fly off at high speeds. Thats just for the mounting brackets - screw those into the side and you will be fine

Re: those headlights covers

I'm currently installing GTS clear covers over my Hella 90mm lights. One side of the GTSs has to be trimmed for cover to sit fully flush in the opening. I've heard the Wade's don't have this prob. They will then be attatched to small brackets with screws, not velcro, eliminating the flying off at speed prob and reducing the theft issue. My Hellas are adj. from the front or back so I can adj aim w/out popping off covers.

I don't think the cops around here will be too worried about the clear covers due to the fact I cruise around town at all hrs of the night with just markers and fogs on - no headlights at all and they drive right by.

I dont have pictures because I sold them a while back ago. The only problem I had with these where when I took them off the car at night -- to drive--- the velcro would peel off the headlight cover. So I took some strong glue and tabbed a little on the back on the headlight --- Problem fixed. The velcro on these lights actaully snap and lock in -- Theres no worry about the headlight coming off with this velcro. They also sell the velcro at autozone for $2 or so. --Thats if you ever need some. As far as the screws you cannot even see them. - Later - Mike

Re: those headlights covers

anyone have experience w/ these on a 3rd gen? my car is yellow and I got brave and painted the headlight coves black (like the IROC) but I used gloss paint and im not too happy w/ the end product. black and yellow is a KILLER-- IMO so whats the scoop on blackouts for the front of 3rd gens?

as mentioned above, I already HATE having to drive at night (or in the rain is even worse).

any info would be great!

PS: who makes the best quality products as for front/back blackouts?!

I have a set of the Wade covers waiting to be installed after my Hella headlight conversion. They will need a bit of trimming to fit right too.
I'll be looking for a way to install them more securely than velcro too.

Re: those headlights covers

Bud M -- That sucks about having to trim the Wade's, I had read in another thread that they fit w/out trimming but maybe they weren't after the fully flush fit we are. I've got my covers trimmed to fit but am still working out how to mount. I'm thinking about using the orig velcro brackets (rounded ones on GTS covers) one at the top on each side of the headlight opening and cutting the wide center bracket into three smaller brackets and spacing them across the bottom of the opening, left bottom, center bottom, right bottom. So in all, 5 brackets using countersunk flat head ( o-ringed ?? ) #6-32 screws through tinneman(sp?) washers and into nylock nuts or t-nuts mounted to back of brackets. The brackets will also be screwed into the headlight wells. That's the plan but could change at any moment, lol. It's getting cold again up here so I will probably just work on cutting and finishing the brackets (indoors ). I want to round off the new cut center brackets to match the 2 small side brackets. I don't have any pics yet but am planning to shoot some when I actually start putting it together.

By the way, you're gonna absolutely love the Hellas!
