TA's/Birds with aftermarket Head units

I would like some pics of Ta's and birds with aftermarket head units to see how they look, either standard size with the filler kit, or the GM oversized one. Also, does it look good at night with the rest of the red dash? Thanks guys

go here : http://www.fbodyaudio.com Plenty of TAs/and Birds with aftermarket HUs. IF you look in the phot gallery under 1 BAD BIRD you will see my Alpine 7998 in a custom trim plate made out of fiberglass. In general though Alpine used to make some really nice 1.5 din HUs that fit perfect in the factory opening on our cars and they light up amber or red/orange as well They are the CDA D857. They discontinued them for 2002 and came out with the HU I have to replace it. but they still can be found on EBAY. Hope that helps.

Matches my interior dash lights very well.

EDIT: Unfortunately, the picture of the lighting isn't very good and was ment to show the fan switch LEDs so the dash lights aren't on. Let me know if you want me to take a good pic of the HU with all the light on at night.

That looks awesome. I was thinking about going to a sony too, just so it could match the gauges. Where did you get the filler kit, it looks great.

Kenwood Excelon MP3 player

I made my own plate to mount the HU in. It's Dark Smoked plexiglass. I haven't finished yet, but i am going to etch the trans Am logo into the empty space onthe plexi.

The mounting kit is made by metra, they make the best kits for our cars. I really hate how most kits make the HU stick out but metra offers a single din flush kit and the single din plus half din flush kit like I have.

A lot of people don't like sony but I decided to buy my HU because I like the looks and simplicity of it and it matches my interior lights so well. I haven't had any problems with my HU yet and I've had it for a year now. It seems to me like Sony HU are starting to get better again.

Sorry, I can't remember the name or number of the kit. Metra only makes 2 flush mount kits, one for a single din HU and the other for a single din HU and the half din EQ. If you goto a local stereo shop that carries metra they will have a book and be able to show you the different kits.

Here are pics of my Kenwood Z919.

It's mainly a white night display... It doesn't match the red interior theme, and I thought about getting a different brand just to match... but it sounds really good. I'll wait to I find a really sweet red stereo that I like.

Doesn't match as good as my Scanmaster... Oh well.
