Taillight Panel finally done!!!(shaved CAMARO letters)
I just finished it like 20 mins ago. I think it looks pretty damn good considering it was my first time using bondo and paint. I still gotta buy the 69' style emblem to slap in the center but thats later on. Im still considering putting a clear coat on there, what do you think should i? Tell me what you think

You should shave the lock hole too. Just drill the two rivets out and pull the lock out. On my stock panel, I have the camaro letters but the lock is shaved, while you are doing body mods, I really like the way my shave gas door finger notch looks.

do you have any pics of your car, I wanna see that shaved antenna, my antenna's been missing for a couple of months. I might just plug the hole, I'd like to see how it came out. btw, how do you open the gas door when fueling?
Good job on the shaving work. But to be honest, you should repaint it before you put it on your car. Seems as if there is a bit of paint drip below/to the rgiht of the key hole. Or try to add another layer to see if it will even out. But besides that detail, good job. As far as clear coat, thats all up to your preference, I'm sure you could find some pics arround to help you out on that.
When I shaved mine i shaved the key hole too. I however didnt drill out the rivets
I just roughed up the hole real good and around the top edges and kind of beveled the hole around the top alot more to make sure it smoothed out easier and stuck well. I used the body filler with kitty hair in it for add strength! It's been on there for over a year now with no cracks at all! Plus I still have my stock panel so I can go back to stock in a few minutes
Like I would really want to do that
I've been workin on my gas door lid as well. Lownslow can you through some pics up of that? Any tips you might have for me on that one? Been thinking about shaving the antena hole too, but I have a power one now so I'm not in a real bug rush to do that one
Thanks
Richard

To shave the trunk lock hole, the rear of the panel has a lip, I grinded that lip flat, and added a little piece of glass across the hole, let it cure up, tuned it over, grinded the front and filled it, looks great, but if you do it that way, you do have to remove the actual lock, the latch will remain and your keyless entry will still open it.
To shave the gas door notch, I cut a V in the notch, and hammered it flat so the notch closed up, welded the two sides together, grinded it, add a little filler, and I was done, now here is the really trick part, to open it, I just stick my fingernail behind the edge and pull. I was going to get one of those magnetic releases that you push and it pops out but the fingernail works just as well.

If you grinded the lip off and flattened the back off I can't imagine why you would need to remove the lock
Since it sits about 1/4 - 3/8 below the surface of the panel. I just left mine there and it worked out fine.
I did my gas door the same way
I want mine to be motorized though
I'm just too lazy to finish it I still need to put the filler on it then paint it. Heck I still need to block my rear panel real good and put another coat of paint on it. I've been thinking about painting it to match the body color though.

I haven't taken any pics in a while I'll try to snap some this weekend. I've got the factory side effects on it now and painted the mirrors also.
