You obviously don't own a hardtop

why do people like convertables, I always liked t-tops in my friends' cars and after havign a targa top vette for a weekend I enjoyed the top off too.

Thats why, I have had 3 f-bodies over the last 6.5 years and all hardtops I want t-tops...

As for leaks, I am a handy guy, and something like a t-top leak is something I can figure out and solve the problem.

Re: T-tops

Never once had a leak...besides, t-tops/targa are the perfect compromise to open air driving without going convertable.

Re: T-tops

I've never had a leak.
For me, it's because it has the open air feeling of a vert with the good looks of a coupe.

Not to mention TTOP is not a factor in insurance. Convertable is.

Agent: "Is it a convertable?"
Me: "Nope"
Agent: "good, that'd be a little more"
me: "hehe"

I love ttops, every car ive owned have had ttops, cept my 94 z hardtop. My ttops have never leaked except when going through the carwash. (me spraying directly into the weather stripping)

Re: T-tops

I've posted this because my friends parents bought a 2001 Camaro SS and they got caught in just a light sprinkle and the T's started to leak.

Sunroofs are for girly cars.

Convertables arent coupes.

GM is the only ones who can pull of a sexy t-top look. Remember the early 80's Mustang t-top cars? uke:

Good 'nuff? I've never been a t-top person but mine is a hard top. I want one (98up) with leather, t-tops, auto and all that though. Just to drive and keep really clean.

Re: T-tops

I have a hard top and it looks dang sexy. I was thinking about doiing a ttop conversion for the extra air in the summer but i think the hard tops look better.

I for some reason don't like convertibles. They rag tops start to stain and look like crap after a while. and even if i did have a convertible, i wouldnt want to drive in it unless i got a roll bar. (Just a little leery about having nothing to stop you in roll overs)

Re: T-tops

I like t-tops but I like hardtop as well. Sometimes I wish I had the tops just to look out, but I'm happy with a hardtop.

Re: T-tops

Mine leak

THey didnt for the first year or so, but it's sometimes bad, I just keep extra towills in the trunk and if heavy rain is perdicted I put them over the seats and hope for the best.

I dont use them that much anymore, but it's a nice option, fun in the spring and fall when it's not too hot or the sun isnt that intense, makes the car fun and sexy looking. I enjoy taking them out and going for a nice back road drive

I havent found a solution to my leaking yet, I've caulked everything and re done the rubber 2x now with little success, it sucks and sometimes it really gets me to the point I'm ready to sell.

Re: T-tops

I love T-tops. I will be searching as best I can for a t-tops when I eventually import a Z28. I am of course worried about their possible leak problems. England being England, it's wet far too much. So I don't want to be having to change my trousers every time I want to go out in it, because the roof has leaked.

Why do they leak? Is it poor design or do the rubbers perish? Are the rubbers expensive?

Thanks

My t-tops have not been on the car in ~6 months. And no, they will not go on this winter, either. There is honestly no substitute to the feeling.

But, that being said, I don't like 4th gen t-tops as much... too small. Maybe I'm just not used to it.

Re: T-tops

I have t tops and really wish i dint. i think hardtops look alot smoother. My brother had a hard top and i liked it a lot better. The tops come out maybe five times a year, and the rest of the time if the car is left in the rain, they like to fill my rear floor boards up. They are pretty cool on summer nights when they are out and you can look up out of them, but i dont think they are worth it.
