T-Top FLEW OFF!!

I was on hwy 4 yesterday and my driver's side t-top flew off! Yes, flew off. It was latched AND locked, and poof it was gone.

Will insurance cover this?

Here are some pics. Notice the rods are in the latched position as is the handle and its locked too. Thats how it was when i picked it up off the side of the freeway!

almost happened to me once, driving along in the morning, forgot to latch em from the night before, I was just like, why is it so noisy in here and I look up and the thing isn't latched, I grabbed it so fast, defintely a scary moment.

Re: T-Top FLEW OFF!!

Happened to me a while back... only when it hit the ground, it bounced up and nailed the rear quarter panel on the way to breaking... Insurance wasn't much help. Hopefully you'll have better results. Good luck.

Re: T-Top FLEW OFF!!

luckily the cars behind me were about 100 yards away, and when it came off i saw them drop back quite a bit as I pulled over. It ended up on the side of the road, so it wasn't obstructing anything, and no one was hurt thankfully.

It wasn't chassis flex, as i have the BMR Xtreme STB, and the boxed sub frames too.

****Anyone who has T-Tops Do this for your safety and the cars around you!!! Its very easy!******

Re: T-Top FLEW OFF!!

Samething happened to a friend of mine last year. It hit a brand new Porsche. The owner was really cool about it though. His only issue was he swore the car was bad luck so last time I saw him he told me he sold it for another color Porsche. Anyways, I know that had to be scary as hell.

Re: T-Top FLEW OFF!!

I think i may check mine, as its probably never been checked at all. Id hate to lose one, and it would be even worse if it hit somebody and i was liable.
