Question T/A decal problem

On th fourth gen. tail light assembly, center section, right above the key hole, where it sez Trans Am . This is aways getting "wiped out" due to sun fading & car washes. Does anyone know of a source for a decal or what ever ? The OEM lettering is not a decal. The local dealer told me that the only service item is a new panel for appox. $160.

this prob belongs more in Appearance than LT1 Tech, but here goes:

http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/vinyl/vinyl.htm

I ordered decals from him for my WS6. He hooked a brotha up. And he's a moderator here on CZ28.com

What color car do you have? Here's a pic of what Mine looks like. Just be VERY VERY careful when putting it on, cuz most you can't re-adjust. Decal

My T/A is Silver. Am ordering two sets of decals; one RED & one SILVER. I have a spare center section which I bought from SPEED AUTOMOTIVE in Cleveland, TN for $35.

I'll move this over to the Appearance Section...

And yeah, I can hook you up if you'd like

EDIT: Just to let you know, the vinyl is a 7 or 8 year vinyl so it won't fade out on you like the stock rear filler does! That's why I made these... almost all that I have seen have been faded and look really terrible.

A tip for those of you that want to remove the old faded paint...from my personal journey to do the same:

You can safely remove the old faded paint from the center section using Easy Off Oven Cleaner - which is like $3 for an entire can (lemon fresh too!). It works BEAUTIFULLY: spray it on, wait 5 minutes, and easily wipe the old paint off with a rag - no scrubbing necessary. This will not harm the plastic itself. Just *MAKE SURE* you don't get the cleaner on any other painted surface of your car. In fact, I'd recommend removing the center section from your car before attempting this - that or covering the entire rear area of your car.

Again, it works perfectly and also cleans the dirt-filled scratches on the panel too - leaving a glass-like shine. Check it out:

Before...

After...

Enjoy!

hey BitCypher, does that stuff work on taillights too? my center piece and taillights aren't that shiney and are a little scratched up. i think i'm going to give that stuff a try and clean up those pieces.

After seeing the results of the center section, I did indeed do my tail lights too and it did make a slight difference. For extra precaution, I only left the cleaner on the lenses for about 3 minutes before wiping it off, followed by a nice soapy wash. Then immediately wax the lenses and center section with a good carnuba wax (after applying the replacement vinyl logo, if used). The results in my case were amazing, per the pictures above.

REMEMBER...this will completely remove the painted bird logo on the center panel! If yours is already gone, then no biggie.

Kewl! I've been looking for another TA like mine! I originally ordered my TA with the "Up-level spoiler", but the Pontiac dealer screwed up my order. I'm kind of glad now because after some research a few years ago I found out that my car was 1 of 37 T-Top M6 Trans Ams built with Chameleon paint and the lower spoiler at the factory in 95-97. I guess that means your car is in that 37 too?

I think you've got me on RWHP though...

I bought my used about over 4 years ago. it was all stock beside a flowmaster muffler.

BTW mine is not t-top. I have no clue how many they build for no t-top.

I believe there are now 3 chameleon TAs with lower spoiler on this forum.
