I would love to do it. I have a new fiberglass hood sitting here waiting to be installed. Does anyone have a picture of the hinges and stuff on other cars with a 'suicide' hood?

Wouldn't the front edge dig into the nose if you did that on our cars?

It would definately be a "wow, that's different" mod... but I have to admit it would be a HUGE PITA to work on the engine with a hood like that.

does anyone have pictures of a vette hood in action? I would pay like $400 to get this done with my new hood.

Mine will open like a old LeSabre/Park Ave. I can't see how the hood opening forward would pose a problem working on the engine..Gave me lots of room on the Sabre

If I were to do something like that... I'd use the Viper Hinges.. they actually "pop" the front of the hood up then you pull it forward and up.

The 'Vette hoods work different than what an F-Body hood would have too - they don't raise up really.

The Viper style hinges might work but it would be expensive as heck I am sure.

Have you guys never noticed all the ricers that do this? They have to be buying kits from somewhere and retro-fitting them. Every one I have ever saw with a suicide hood raises up enough to give the nose of the hood room to open. BUT - I would think that any kit someone put on 4th Gen. Camaro/Firebird would have to raise up extra high, because of the pointed nose on the hood. In order to get a good mounting point, you'd be back up to almost where the shock towers are. There's not really any metal before there that you could mount off of - so that is gonna add in more clearance needed.
