Question Storing Winter tires?

Hey all! Long time no post, but after 5 tries I got my password right and I'm back. Anyway, I just picked up a new set of rims and I'm gonna mount them on my car with some performance tires, and leave the all-season tires on my factory rims in storage. Under what conditions should I store the old tires? Do I want to keep them at room temperature, or am I fine just leaving them outside? I left some Pirelli P7000s outside for almost a year once, and the rubber was dried out and pretty darn useless, but they were exposed to sunlight too. Any suggestions?

And, at the risk of eliciting cries of "REPOST!" if anyone has any suggestions for good performance/summer tires that will last more than one summer, feel free to suggest! Thanks all.
