Ok this is a funny question I know but I'm being told the stock ss hood on the camaro is made of fiberglass, is this true? I always thought they were steel..

well i don't have one I have a friend that is buying one and I want to make sure it is factory..

 

The stock SS hood is made from SMC(sheet molded composit) which is a plastic strengthened by fibers. So it's not "fiberglass" in the old sense, but you certainly can call it that.
They are NOT steel.

P.S. Couple more things. They do not have under hood insulation. And if it's a factory hood it will have a GM part number on it. The stock hoods are faily heavy also.
