Stock fog light mod

I dont know if anybody else has tried to tweek the stock fog lights ....we all know they blow. Anyway , I had an extra one with a chipped lens layn around and nothing to do so I decided to see what I could do. I looked inside from the back and could see a metal shield......hummm. Reached for my handy blowtorch and proceded to heat the metal casing so I could separate the lens from the houseing. About 30 sec of heat and off it comes(use gloves...duh). Now you can just pull the shield out....it slides right out. Let everything cool down then grab the black rtv and put the lens back on and let it cure a few hours. Reinstall and enjoy new found light...

I'm a little confused. You removed the metal shield?

Yes...It blocks about 50% of the light....pull it out and toss it.

Thats what the adj screw is for ars.....point them down a bit and no problems. They are still nowhere near as bright as some of the aftermarket stuff or the Silver Star headlights which blind the heck out of me.

Oh yes.....both....they are like real fog lights now as apposed to driving lights. If you want to leave them on all the time I would suggest getting the 889 replacement bulbs which are dark tipped to shield the filliment without blocking near as much light as the metal shields I removed. Ive been driving around with the 885 bulbs that were in there and no one has flashed their lights at me yet but Im thinking of putting in the 889s.

Do you have any pics of the stock lights and then the mod you did. If so please post them.

No pics....it was so simple that I didnt bother.....

I can take some pics of the results.....but I dont have a pic to compare it too....trust me it makes a big difference, wish I would have done it sooner.

I dont know, but if you look in it it should be easy to see if the shield is in there or not.
