SS hood with cowl induction

Has anybody ever tried to get an 96-97 SS hood to have both ram air and cowl induction? I was thinking of getting an SS hood for my car, but i also wanted it to have cowl induction since i do like the looks of a SS hood way better than the cowl induction.

Re: Hood

The ss hoods only have the ram air. But they do make a 3" ss hood which is also a cowl induction hood. I have the same hood on my 94 z28. It's pretty awesome cause it's a ss and cowl hood. Vfn makes this hood and it runs around 500.00 if you catch a gp on it.

But is it possible to take a regular SS hood, and say cut part of the back off to make it a cowl induction? I want to see if this is possible because i dont want a 3 inch high cowl induction hood to block my vision as i am not that tall.

The difference is that a ram-air hood draws in air from the front and a cowl induction uses negative pressure at the cowl to draw in air from the rear.

i really don't see how this would work. If you had an opening at the front and rear of your hood scoop, it would do absolutely nothing. Air would just blow right through it, like it is a tunnel. A cowl induction hood works off of low pressure and if you have an opening at the front and back, there will be no low pressure area. Now I don't have a wind tunnel to prove this, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work.

The cowl induction would still work if the ram air portion of the scoop was hooked up to a ram air intake like the LT1 SS Camaros had. Now, the seal around the intake would have to be pretty good for the cowl induction to work, but so long as it was a good seal, then the ram air and cowl induction should both work.
