Does anyone know of a reproduction for a 98-02 SS Hood? I would rather have steel than fiberglass if I could. I have seen several fiberglass ones that look similiar, but haven't been able to find one that is exact. GM wants to burn me to a tune of $1,895 just to get it, so that won't happen. TIA to anyone who responds

 

Just so you know, the stock SS hood (SLP) was Fiberglass. There was never a factory produced Steel SS hood. The reduced weight of the fiberglass hood was part of "cool-factor' of the hood and car, less weight meant better performance. The reason you are having trouble finding a steel SS hood is probably because no one makes them. The same goes with WS6/Firehawk hoods. Now you would be correct in saying that the standard camaro/firebird hood are steel, but again many people ditch these stock hoods for weight and aesthetic reasons.
