I would just keep the stocker but it met with an unfortunate accident and needs replacement, going through insurance the Big block/cowl hoods won't cost me anything, but the SS would cost about 200 more. What do you think looks better?

 

Of the ones you have listed I would chose the SS hood, but I am partial to the Harwood Cowl hood personally. You might check it out and see if you like it.

I wish I could afford one........as a second choice, I'd pick the big block. I really dislike cowl hoods of any kind on F-bodies, unless it's a necessity. Especially if the rest of your car is stock, then it looks extra bad. But I just don't like the look of cowl hoods on F-bodies.

 

I am torn between an SS and the vfn cowl, I gotta let the body shop know by monday, argh this sucks!

I really would like to get a cowl, because its cheaper, and I'd never have to do the explaining of it not being a real SS, but I am not sure which one I even like better, they both look effing sweet to me, ah descision desicions...

Not all of us can afford SS's but like the way the ram air hood looks.....like me. I wish I could've gotten an SS but 1. I didn't have the money, and 2. I didn't come across an SS for sale when I was looking for my car.

Nothing wrong with putting an SS hood on the Z28.....as long as you don't go and put SS badges on it. I highly doubt he wants to make it look like an SS clone.

 

I like the SS the best. They always look good on LT1's.
The Cowl isn't too bad either, if you don't want to spend the extra $200.

 

I defintely am not trying to make an SS clone. I am leaning more towards a cowl, because the original 1st gen Z28s got cowls. I still have a till monday to decide. I really don't think I want a big block hood, but who knows, ah this is so confusing...

 

they way i see it, everyone around here has the ss hood, i was looking around and like the wide ss/ zl1 hood, its kinda got the same look to it, but just a tad bit different

That ZL1 looks alright, but I think I'd rather get just a regular SS hood then the ZL1, just too, well wide I guess, I dunno, just something about it makes me rather have a regular SS hood then that one.

Anybody have anything to say about VFN or the Hawks hoods? Any MAJOR fitment issues with either?

 

Go with the Cowl.. But get the 4inch VFN or the Glasstek,

I'm partial to the SS hood (go figure), but for your car I think the cowl would looke much better.

 

SS Hood def. The damage to my car looked almost identical to yours! You didnt happen to get backed into by a lifted truck did you? I was torn with the same situation you are and I ended up making a clone. I love the Lt1 SS Camaros and knew that's what I wanted. I figured that SS hood and spoiler with Z28 badges=Z wanna be SS, but with the badges, a normal passerby believes it's an SS. I have upgraded everything on the car that the SS's came with so I'm considering myself an extenion of SLP, haha(Yes I know this doesn't make my car a real SS). I would never try to sell the car as an SS and if the smart ones can catch me in my lie, I'll admit it. Anyway..I got the American Sports Car Design SS hood and the quality was spectacular. My spoiler came from spoiler depot and was also a high quality piece.

 

Bringing this back from the dead but, I ended up going with the 2 inch cowl from vfn, and want to say VFN SUCKS, I still haven't gotten my hood and its been over 6 weeks, and I was supposed to have it in 4-6 weeks, well its past that time and it hasn;t been shipped yet and well, I am pretty pissed off, should've went with the SS.

If anyone is thinking about vfn, don't buy, their service sucks, and I am pretty much going to just keep calling 2x a day until I get it. This is ridiculous. Save yourself the headache and buy from somewhere else.
