Sprusing Up 93-97 Hood Vents?

Just kicking ideas around, some of you are better than visualizing an idea than I am at times. So how about this: plastic hood vents painted gray or silver (actual metallic paint) with the fake holes painstakingly painted black on a Navy Blue Metallic paint job.

Yay or nay? If it looks no good I can always paint over them with black.

I used to have these,

I thought they looked pretty good, but I'm looking for something different, plus I broke them trying to take them off for primer.

Wow, that's great, thanks a lot man. Now I just have to see how it will look with actual metallic, looks like that's just a spray can, which technically you can't call a silver, but that may look better in this situation.

I always thought a hood with the vents a little bigger and some mesh on them would look alright.

Painting those dots is the time consuming part, but if you can develop a system, like i did on my last vent, it will only take you about 10 minutes per vent. All you need is a super small paintbrush and some gloss back paint. I used model car acrylic because it came in such a small bottle. The half circle dots on the tops are the easiest, all you do is apply "too much" paint to the circle and wipe away the rest with your thumb. I found that it only took off the excess instead of crewing up the inside of the dot. The other holes I just dipped my brush in the paint so it was making a drop at the tip, then put it in the hole. If you have enough paint it will fill the hole perfectly and you can move onto the next. I have two spare vents from my brothers car if anyone wants me to paint them. I may have to charge shipping though

Thanks for the tips.

what color is that, anyways? Silver or chrome? I've decided not to use an actual metallic, a flatter silver will make them look more like metal.
