Re: slyvania silverstar bulbs in camaro rock!

I've used Silverstars...wouldn't use them again if they paid me.

They look whiter/cleaner than stock but output wasn't any better. I'll agree...in the rain, they were even worse.

Since them, I've tried Nokya and FX bulbs. Higher wattage bulbs that simply destroy the Silverstars at a fraction of the price. My test is an overpass that has almost no light...Silverstars were on the dim side where the higher wattage bulbs were WAY better.

I have side-by-side pics on my cardomain site of Silverstars, Nokya and FX. I have new pics of GE's 9006HO bulbs and some other bulbs that I'll have to upload soon too.

So for those who say Silverstars are great but haven't tried the other alternatives...I don't think you're wrong...just still in the dark. *pun intended*

I was also looking at the Nokya ones for my Camaro....is it necessary to replace the wiring, or will the stock ones work with the higher-output bulbs?

Hehe...yup - I just like to get under your skin.
I have tried about 8 different bulbs in the stock housings, and about 4 different bulbs in the FF75's. Also tried the AutoOptiks, and a couple of different fog light configurations, with different bulbs.

In the stock housings - I can't really say much for Silverstars, except they look a lot cleaner - and I didn't think they really lost a whole lot of light. They weren't any brighter though.
Now in my wife's car, which uses 9007's (dual filament bulb), the Silverstars were so much brighter than the stock bulbs its ridiculous. BUT, she also has a well designed headlight housing - its full of reflectors, etc. and it's not just a small little piece like the LT1 headlights...its a large plastic housing.

Some of my favorite bulbs BYFAR for pure light output are Luks 100w. BUT, they aren't a white light. It is just a clear bulb that runs high wattage. And they are about $4 a piece.

I guess my least favorite ever was Eurolite's. Now those are a joke.

FWIW, my gf's mustang has silverstars and they are OK. Of course, she doesn't have crap sealed beams.

I beat when I put in some Nokya or FXs in there, it'll still destroy the silverstars.

So....if you upgrade from your stock bulbs to the higher wattage ones, do you have to get an upgraded harness or anything like that either??? Thanks!

Re: slyvania silverstar bulbs in camaro rock!

Nokya is readily available on eBay.

Ichibahns are harder to find on eBay. Well...there were some 90 watters today...but I bought them.

Finding Ichibahns is a secret...

BTW, I have GE Xenon, Sylvania XtraVision and some other FX bulbs too...just waiting to get them and take some pics.
