SLP firebird take-off rims on a 95 z28
i really want to get rid of my salad shooters. they're in horrible condition and they're just getting old. i saw on SLPonline that firebird take-off rims are 65 bucks a piece shipped.
would my rubber on my stock salad shooter rims (1995) fit on the firebird takeoff rims? would the takeoff rims fit my car without any problems, ie just bolt them right on?
here's the SLP product page:

they won't fit..u must grind the inner hub of the wheel
I have a 95 v6....they won't fit unless u take off about a couple millimeters from where the hub fits in the wheel.......take a metal file or a dremel and have fun.....u must do all 4 wheels so in case u ever wanna rotate ur tires...i was told from slp direct fit...but they dont' know i guess. OH well...it's worth doing though...50bucks a pop and they look kick ***!!
Good luck...trust me it's worth it,

That is true...I put 2000 WS6 wheels on my 1995 Z28 and yes you have to grind the lip on the inside of the (back) wheel where it fits around the hub. It's not a big deal, though as noted the wheels are not a direct bolt on as advertised! Fronts will go on fine but as noted you should grind all 4 wheels so you can rotate them...

Could someone explain in detail or show pics of this. I have no problems with grinding it down I just need to understand what to grind. I'm looking at the wheels and can not figure out where it would need to be modified. Any help would be nice since I'm getting the new tires in a couple of weeks. Thanks a lot.

i have them on my 95 firebird, i also ahd to grind out the inner hub of the wheel with a dremel....took maybe 10 minutes of my time they bolt right up after that though...something about the hubs being .007 of an inch bigger on the 93-96 cars i believe (not sure on that number, but its something very small)
other than that, direct fit
they look oh so much better than the nasty 93-95 swirles i had!

the center circle hole thing. the big hole in the wheel in the middle circled by the lug nut holes.
pretty sure
thats where the rusted "hub" on your axel goes. on our cars its just slightly bigger in the rear than in the front for some reason.

yep thats the hole
i've never done it before, but i'd imagine if you just took a dremel with a grinding bit and moved it evenly along the edge of the circle in complete circles (ie: going all the way around) a few times then trying to fit it on that'd be best. prolly want to shave off the least amount that you have to.
