Silverstar Headlights

I have a '97 TA and was just wondering if the Sylvannia SilverStar headlights are any good. Anything special, or should I save my money?

Thanks!

Jeremy

I put them on my silverado and love them I can definitely tell the difference.

I don't believe they make them for the firebird/ TA, I have checked there website and they don't make them .

Let me know if you found out they do.

If they were better priced, say a couple bucks more than regular bulbs, I would say get them. But I believe they are +$20 each. I had them but took them out.

ddot, I didn't think they made them either, but they do. The headlight number is H4666ST. They also have matching fog light bulbs- number 880ST.

Import, why would you take them out?

Is that the high beam or low, do you have the numbers for both?

I like them. For what you have going, I would say get them. Now in a LT1 style Camaro - its arguable - but you don't really have any other options as cheap, so, I say go for it.

I have them in my beater, 94 Mustang & there is quite a difference. Picking up a pair today fot the T/A. Advance Auto has a sale currently running; First one $19.95, second one 1/2 price. Then there is a mail in $6. rebate. Can't beat that !

Yeah, I miss HID's. I had them on my '02 S2000 and that is why I am looking into these. I loved the way they looked and performed. I know these Silverstars aren't going to be nearly as good, but then again, they aren't going to be $500 a piece either!

Honestly, the headlights are the least of my concern regarding mods, but my family wants Christmas present ideas from me!

Thanks everyone!

Oh man...I love those S2000 lights. I saw a S2000 meet a while back at a mall at nighttime and man...that side of the parking lot was LIT like a *****.

I'm in the 93-97 Camaro crowd (see: CRAP LIGHTING).

I mean, they look a lot nicer than the stock halogen bulbs in that they give off a cleaner looking white light. As for the output, for my car at least, didn't do much...it might have been less than stock actually (Pu12e would probably know the #s). That is with the 3057 crap housings though.

Right now I have 80w Nokya bulbs in until HID kits drop down in price or when I have enough time to do the projectors.

germ79,

Get Nokya or FX 80w or 100w bulbs.

You will and then at the silverstars.

I have a 1998 firebird formula.

I checked it out, I did and they don't make them for 1998 and up firebirds.

Anyone know a cross reference bulb that would fit?

He can't, easily. He has solid glass sealed beams - no way to remove the old bulbs to put the new ones in.

He would have to get conversion housings which are pretty expensive (for the good ones), then buy the bulbs. Here's a cheap set of the housings. I would do some more research though and get some better ones than that.

ddot - they don't make them for the '98+ models, yet. You would have to do what I mentioned with the replacement housings. And I am not even sure that they make a replacement that size. (H4703 - 3 5/8" x 6" Rectangular)

Holy ****, you mean theirs are even harder to do than a 93-97 Z ?

I think they have H4 bulbs... so he can't just replace the H4 bulb and re-silicone it ?

H4 bulbs aren't usually permanently sealed..that's why I ask..
