I'm interested in doing this also, but is it hard to do? Does it require having to get anything painted? Seems like those suckers wouldn't come off easy. It would be just my luck I start pulling them off and the paint came off with it.

It's just 3M tape holding them on. A heat gun and a little patience will go a long way. Just becareful not to heat the paint too much or it'll blister on ya. I was fortunate not to have any problems with getting mine off. Pics @ www.cardomain.com/id/sspddmon . Good luck!

The car looks much better with them off, Nice clean look, I took mine off in the summer heat with not a problem.. color wasnt faded or nothing. you'd never know they were on.. I tell everyone that has them still, yank em! You'll love yourself after.. The little extra bit of glue/gum from pulling them off comes off easy with some bug n tar remover.... Good luck and enjoy !

Nice strong dental floss works great for removing them.

Maybe I am just retarded, but I do not know what the side moldings are, could somebody explain to me? I look at these pictures and don't notice anything different. I must be blind or something, could somebody show me the light????

On a Camaro, there is a panel line that runs completely around the car at it's midpoint. The factory puts a 1½ inch molding from wheelwell to wheelwell on each side that sort of covers this line. The molding is not installed in front of the front wheel nor behind the back wheel where the bumper cover meets the fender.

On a Pontiac, the molding is on the door at the crease line and has two small extensions that go on the front fender and the rear fender for a couple extra inches.

Yep, I just used floss and slowly pulled them off from one end. After you do that, there probably will be some glue residue left over, it's easy enough to get off with the right stuff.

Oh, and one thing I like to add here is this. The side moldings are there for a reason, if you take them off and someone opens their door next to your car your car will get dinged up and look bad. The reason I took mine off is that mine is garaged and I have another daily driver. Just a thought for ppl who drive their camaro everyday and park in crowded lots, if that was my situation I'd leave them on..........................

I can't speak for the Camaros, but on the Firebirds they serve no purpose. They are too low to do any good. Ask me how I know... . I am planning on removing mine this weekend.
